They used to, but I think the newer models have been modded a little so it is not as bad.

Just to add Micro$oft now covers the R74 error like a red ring also.

I got 2 a few days ago...It was my fault. Putting an Xbox on top of a dish receiver in a small enclosed area isnt too smart.

So i whipped that InterCooler on and put it in a well ventilated area and its been working perfect ever since

At first, it was all the time. Then, they fixed it.
It seems like RRoD has been on the rise, however. It's become nearly as popular as it used to be.

Yea but it could be because all the people that got xbox's a few years ago and were lucky enough to go this long without RROD are now getting it (like me when I play ODST for too long). Eh idk, aside from that I haven't heard anything about it in a while. But either way if I get a new xbox anytime soon (or another one) I'm just going to save me the trouble and replace the x-clamps with some bolts and washer and call it a done deal. I don't see why M$ just doesn't do what everyone is doing to their xboxs to fix them. Make better fan shrouds, and take out the x clamps and replace them with something more practical.

Not even that intercooler may save you...

My neighbors Elite quit on him after owning it for one year. He had an intercooler but it didn't make much difference for him.

The problem is caused by the older chips being too big and power hungry and getting too warm.
I want to mod a 360 with fans right on top of the chips. That might help.

Yeah anything will get out of sorts if you play it to long and is not well ventilated. I think a lot of the cases were people not properly taking care of it how it should. But, they didn't know it would be a problem but in today's age things are so technical and fragile.
