A Preview Of The 360's New Dashboard

Microsoft is getting ready for Kinect that will be out on November 4th with its annual fall update. For a few lucky people, they are recieving their updates a lot earlier than most others. The additions to the dashboard are mostly those covered at the past E3 like ESPN support, Zune music, a lot of chatting features and finally a Netflix search, but like always, the biggest part of the updates are always the new UI. (In this case, the menu seems to be reorganized. Not as drastic as the first update.)
Some other things that it includes is viewing movies with friends, a better avatar editor and a web browser.
Just kidding about the new web browser. The 360 still doesn't have one of those.

I honestly have very mixed feelings for it. Not sure if most of them are good or bad.

Meh I don't think kinect will be all that great. So far the games that come out for it seem terrible, and too similar to the Wii. That and I would feel stupid trying to play halo with that thing :p

Theres always a ban wave around Christmas every year. Although I was planning on just burning a copy of medal of honor and playing online but I haven't used my flashed xbox online in a good bit so I might not :/

Also, I'm not liking the sqaure images. Looks too sharp to me, not enough smoothness.

The update looks cool, but I feel like their updating it just for the sake of updating it.

Pretty much nothing is going to change except for kinect compatibility obv.

They need to add a transparency slider bar for the amount of transparency for the big boxes on the dashboard.. I've had a few beast wallpapers, that are completely destroyed by those.

Exactly!! Thats what I said! I wish I could remove the big round base though for my custom themes, and like you said the transparency would be awesome. Instead they're just giving it a new skin...

I might look into getting a Xbox (not 360) and modding it.

Well technically you can run unsigned xex's on jtag xbox's but you have to have one with the old style dashboard on it to do the hack :/ And they get banned from xbox live just like the first xbox did when you softmodded it.

I'm still wanting to get a jtag xbox but the ones on ebay that I know for sure I can hack cost like $150 plus the hardware if I wanted to get like a premade xecuter pcb costs like $40 so yea >.<
