Here's the facts I found on downgrading Firmware 2.71 - 3.03

Okay, so I'm a noobie here but I learn fast. For all those people still looking to downgrade their US PSP Firmwares. The only UMD that I know will work is the GTA LCS UMD that has the ULUS# 10041 and the UPDL# 004850. I'm posting this because I'm really sick and tired of people posting things that are only half truths. I don't know how to downgrade from there but that is the only disk that I know will work. If you are a noob like me, I will tell you that you shouldn't bother looking for the game at a new retail store because if you think you've found it you didn't notice that Sony is almost as smart as Dark_Angel because they did release a later version ULUS# 10041 but it has GH after it for "Greatest Hits". They also have a second release game, that is the one that burnt me - ULUS# 10041 UPDL#010050, this one has the correct ULUS# but the Firware Update on the disk is version 2.60. To find the correct game your best best is either Ebay verifying the ULUS & UPDL #'s or checking with the used game resell shops. Once I get my own hands on the game I will find out how to do the downgrade and will be posting a step by step noobie instruction guide on how to do the process from start to finish.
BTW - if any of you more experienced guys would like to help me please feel free to contact me, and to anyone that has the correct UMD and isn't playing it, I would greatly appreciate you mailing it to me and once I get the downgrade complete I give you my word I will sent it right back to you. I won't hold my breathe though since online you have no clue what the weight of my word is worth. If it helps, I'm a 31 year old that has owned my own business for 7 years, not a young kid trying to scam a game to sell on ebay for an outragious amount.

Who in the world is Dark_Angel? You mean alex? And ain't 3.03 the only firmware you need LCS to downgrade with.

Oops, typo, yes Alex, and all the 3.0X firmware I found out needs the GTA LCS UMD (I have 3.01 and need it). That was what got me frustrated in the first place. I found a posting that Dark_Alex had made on another forum and he explained that he references 3.03 because at that time it was the latests version of the 3.0 versions however they all operated utilizing the same scripts with only very minor debugs in coding with each sony update. He didn't reference 2.71 and up but I had found that for full homebrew functionality those need the UMD to downgrade to 1.5 - 2.0, and then from there you can upgrade to his 3.03OE-C.
Now outside of the 3.0 firmware reference I can not state the upgrade process as a matter of fact though, because I has not been able to do it yet, but as soon as I know it as fact and not just an educated theory I will make the factual basis available for all other noobies as well.
I just wish that I could have found a posting that gave step by step directions from a store bought psp to full homebrew functionality will detailed instructions handling the torrent downloads all the way through categorizing and tranfering the .rar files to functioning games. Since I can't find it, I guess I'll need to write one up myself and make it availible to all - of course that is when I actually have succeeded myself.

p.s. - When I write up the instruction I will proof read it and check for all typos as well

You lost me man. I thought the only 3.x fw you can downgrade is 3.03....(anything lower, technically) Anything higher then 3.03 you can't downgrade. Also 2.8 and lower doesn't need a umd at all. That and most the files are readily available without the need of torrents. But whatever, okie dokie then...

O yea you were right about you need to downgrade to 1.5 in order to upgrade to a OE firmware.

You got it right, 3.03 or lower can be downgraded, I thought you were asking if 3.03 was the only one that needed the disk, and I was just clarifying that 3.00, 3.01, 3.02 and 3.03 all need the disk, in the forums they just say that it will downgrade 3.03 and never states that it is needed for all the 3.0X versions. Everything above 3.03 is stuck for the time being.

It only states for 3.03 because that is the only firmware that it works on. Hence the reason for the readme stating to upgrade to 3.03 if you have anything from 2.81-3.02. Also i believe the downgrader is created by Noobz and not Dark Alex. Dark Alex strictly works on custom firmware. I've seen this guy post this same thing on afterdawn about a month to a month and a half ago asking for a copy of an unpatched GTA:LCS. I mean if you've been looking that long for a copy don't you think you should purchase off ebay by now or look to rent a copy. Just my guess but I think your out to scam people. Also my suggestion to anyone on this site reading this...take low post count into consideration before actually proceeding with something that a noob (even in his own words) has stated. I suggest waiting for someone with psp brew helper in their signature to confirm it or someone with a high post count.

Staxx, First and foremost, like most of the people that post, you really need to get your facts straight! Before you want to accuse me of anything check your other forum before accusing me of scamming. I just signed up on PSP Blender last week, learned about what homebrew is at that time, and registered to psp brew to find some help on hacking my psp, and on monday went out and bought the used GTA LCS game that everyone said to buy and it had the version 2.6 update because noone stated that it had to have a specific UPDL#.
Secondly, I have reiterated that the firmware info that I posted is factual, everything else was nothing more than speculation from what I had read on a few different forums, and emphasized that once I get my psp updated I will then give factual step by step instructions on how to maximize the effectiveness of your psp. I think posting a full tutorial based on actual experience would be the easiest way for other noobs like myself to catch up to where the experienced guys are at. I will take great precaution to get correct info so I don't brick my psp, and only hope that noone else does by getting the wrong info from some guy posting info that they pulled out of their donkey like yourself.
And do I expect anyone to send me their game - NO, but if someone was so entailed to do so, great, but I will find my own, don't you worry about it!!!

Info pulled out of my a$$...nah the info i stated (aside from my accusations of the similar post) is all listed on this site as tutorials. Show me whatever links you'd like, what you pulled outta your donkey is the accusation that I posted anywhere else, that is what my comment was regarding. As far as your comments on the rest, yes that information is correct but incomplete. My comments in regards to giving full information on this forum is to explain to us noobs that the downgrader works for 2.81 - 3.03, just as follows:
Step 1 - Get a GTA LCS ULUS#10041 UPDL#004850
Step 2 - Upgrade your firmware (2.81-3.02) to Sony version 3.03
Step 3 - Use the downgrader (at such and such link) (following whatever steps) to downgrade to version 1.50
Step 4 - Upgrade version 1.50 to Dark Alex's 3.03 OE-C (by whatever steps are needed)
Step 5 - Download files for games and put them in folder "x" by doing whatever steps are needed
Step 6 - Play and enjoy
Anyone reading this instructions please note that this is a rebuttal to a prior posting and not actual instruction for anything
That is an example of what I would like to put together, if something that simple is available I haven't been able to find it! All I know is there has been enough stupid comments posted in regards to my small effort to try to help make things simple for anyone new with homebrews. If anyone wants to post to this forum, show a little intelligence, help me help others. If you can't help with factual information, then get bent. If you are a noob trying to buy the GTA LCS game and you listen to my post then you will not buy the wrong game. Everything else in this post is nothing else but sh*t fluff refuting others comments.

And you are fighting about who's right why? Who cares, you want to make a tutorial. Go make one. Simple as that, no need to get into arguments over nothing. Need help making the tutorial, ask us, if not then go about on your merry ways and make it. Post it here or somewhere when your done and there yah go.
