Description:
These Japanese developers sure are miracle workers! In an effort to really improve their emulator and the gaming experience of those who download their work, they have come up with the NeoGeo Emulator for PSP Beta, after coming up with 3 Alpha releases. As you all know by now, this version would be supporting arcade romsets. With that, let's go over to the changelog, tirelessly translated by QJ's very own, Jeff C.
Changes in Beta version:
* Fixed a bug that froze quite some games. This was a initial miss.
* Various CPU timer processing changes. A part of the sound-muted games may be fixed now.
* Several fixes on the memory cache management.
Changes in Alpha 3:
* File reading method changed from judging from the file name to judging the CRC value of the file. However, the zip file name must be strictly the same with the MAME file name. The database for reading file is stored in "rominfo.dat". Non-working games are also included in this file, but plz never change the content of this file. You may make the program unable to startup by doing so.
* With the changes above, MAME's clone sets are also possible to load now.
* Created a swap zone on the memory stick, which made it possible to start large-sized games. However, you will have to use the enclosed converter to convert the sprite data in advance. Yet, the game may be started, but the play speed may not be decent. There may be some potential for optimization, but due to the physical limitations, the current speed has reached its limit.
* Encrypted ROM sets like "Nightmare in the dark" are now supported. You will have to use the converter to create the cache data in advance. (KOF'99 and etc still not supported due to memory insufficiency.)
* The following BIOS are now supported:
* Unibios MVS (Hack, Ver. 1.0)
* Unibios MVS (Hack, Ver. 1.1)
* Unibios MVS (Hack, Ver. 1.2)
* Unibios MVS (Hack, Ver. 1.3)
* Unibios MVS (Hack, Ver. 2.0)
* Unibios MVS (Hack, Ver. 2.1)
* Debug MVS (Hack?)
* Asia AES
* (Items will not be displayed if you don't have them on the memory stick).
You can download the universal BIOS from the universal BIOS page. (The official UNIVERSE BIOS homepage http://unibios.free.fr/index.html)
Plz note that even you've changed the dip switch, Debug BIOS will still not be started in test mode.
- Compatibility list updated.
When using the eLoader, the required 2MB may be a little insufficient, so some games from the list may not be supported.
- User interface simplified to save more memory for emulation.
[How to use the Sprite ROM Converter v0.1]
1. Start the romcnv.exe with a double click in Windows.
2. With the file selection dialog shown, plz select the zip file of the game you want to convert.
3. If the conversion is necessary, ot should start by now.
Yet, if you are trying to convert a clone set, the parent ROM must be present in the same folder.
4. In the cache filer, a file named "gamename_cache.zip" will be created, plz copy it into /PSP/GAMES/ngepsp/cache on your memory stick.
The original game should be copied in to /PSP/GAMES/ngepsp/roms.
5. Now the game should work properly.
