I have always enforced that... The only time I don't is the time I don't see it.

By the way, to clarify the rule #7, our most recently amended rule, it's ok to say... oh, "mininova.com". That's linking to a site that doesn't have pirated material. That's only linking to a site that makes reference to other places in which have it. You can't, in turn, post links to specific torrents themselves, because those DO reflect a link in which pirated content is located.

Glad the issue is settled but I still think that it makes no difference if you ask to be sent a Torrent for material that is obviously copyrighted via PM or via posted link. The public record still shows evidence of illicit activity and I thought that is what the forum wanted to avoid.

I understand that the various torrent engine sites and their various torrents are NOT exclusively intended to promote piracy. This is only a side effect caused by certain individuals, whatever their motivations may be.

Obviously if a link to a torrent is posted for public domain material this is not a violation it is only a violation when the link or torrent leads to material that is otherwise intended for legal sale.

Feel free to correct me if I am confused or flat out incorrect, I only want to follow the forum rules.

OO ok dpm. I always just go by the actual rules here in general chat and announces sections, and the thread you made about the amendment to #7. You said in that thread:

Now, it's fine to discuss utorrent, and it's also ok to say that you can download utorrent here -> http://www.utorrent.com/ <- HOWEVER, It is not ok to discuss where to download torrent files that are, in turn, downloaded via the torrent program.

That's why I said what I said. Didn't know we could now link to websites that you can download torrents too, does that also mean we can link to websites where we can download iso's too? Were not linking to the iso, same as not linking to the torrent. I don't know the details but mininova has torrents that contain pirated materials that you download directly off mininova's servers. They might make reference to other torrent sites but from what I can tell they host plenty of pirated material themselves hosted on their own servers.
