Strange Problem with the PSP-2000, firmware 4.01

I've been having some strange problems with a PSP of a friends I have. It is a PSP-2000 out of the box with firmware 4.01. I have modded several PSP's now, being 3.70 to 4.01 both Slim and Phat, with no problems. But with this one I get a problem. I'm not sure if it's because it's a "newer" PSP-2000 (It's right out of the box as 4.01), but I put in my magic memory and the Pandora Battery, the PSP automatically turns on as it should with the Pandora Battery, but the "support screen" will not come up. I put the memory and battery in another PSP-2000 that didn't come with 4.01 but now is 4.01, and it works fine. I put it in other PSP-1000's that are the same way and it works fine. But when I put the two into this PSP-2000 that came with firmware 4.01 built in, it refuses to work. The screen to downgrade it won't even come up. Is this a new security feature Sony has done with their latest models? Has anyone else gotten a similar problem? Any and all help on this subject will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

if it came with 4.01, you might not have any luck with the pandora trick.

Yes, it is a new security feature.
Newer motherboards require a signed MMS instead of a normal one.
You won't be able to downgrade it yet.
:(
Hopefully there will be a different exploit found.

So no way to do it? I've heard of there being a 4.01 MMS maker, whatever that is, could that possibly do it? So there's no way to downgrade the PSP, Is there at least a way that a 4.01OFW PSP still be modified into a m33?

Not sure what airplanes is talking about, but the newer PSP's that come with 4.01 OFW out of the box have the newest motherboard revision that, like the 3000 version, is not compatible with current pandora setups. Don't give up hope as this has provided an actual challenge for hackers like DA and the Noobz team and the security is sure to be cracked.

In the meantime if your friend has a chance to exchange or return the PSP to try and get an older one, he should try.

Regardless of firmware shipped with a PSP, the motherboards can still differ.

I was not aware that PSPs were shipping with 4.05. But from what I've read any PSP with 4.01 from the factory is an unmodable type. Maybe the 4.05's vary.

I may be wrong on this, but I also read that the 4.01 PSP's can't go below a 4.00 system version either, which I guess doesn't really matter since they're not modable anyway.

It's pretty much luck of the draw with 4.01 i think i was reading somewhere that some come with the TA-090 and some are being shipped with the new TA-088v3 board. It's quite possible they implemented a 4.00 cap on the firmwares, but if you remember back to 3.11 they tried to do something similar with that.

Please stay on topic. No one is talking about psp repairs... this thread is about pandora compatibility.

4.01 problem with my friend's PSP-2001 also..

:? I don't know about now tho...I even tried downgrading or upgrading...still my pandoras i made won't work...BUT....I heard that if you have the same psp model OR at least a slim PSP, that psp has to have a CFW on it...THEN make a MMS and pandora with THAT system...then when it's done, use that on the psp that is 4.01 ofw...I'm gonna try that...and that's my only option i can think of, of doing...but, my friend takes long of bringing his psp over to my place. Sheesh!! And his own has a cfw in it...which i did it for him....

i know this thread is old, but i think that if you try 4.01m33-2, it will work great. as my abouuve post said-it worked-and there hasnt been a psp yet(going on 21) that hasnt worked.

on another note-is it a normal piano black, or a madden. it worked for me.--and what cfw you trying.

if 4.01m33 works, i will give you a sit for ctfs. a ctf is a theme where you can get your psp to start like windows or xbox 360 or mac.-oh, and a link to a tutorial for the cxmb prx file you`ll need.
