Legal Problems for DevHook

Have you seen this from psp-hacks:
"Well, Sony has given a cease and desist order to pspsoftware.ddo.jp (the release site for DevHook) regarding distribution of DevHook.

Translation by 0okm:

“Reboot_1.50.bin is the copyrighted material by SONY, that is mixed with DevHook0.43fix. Warning from SCE to those who up-load DevHook0.43fix comes. Moreover, please annul it at once when downloaded 0.43fix is preserved at hand, and it uses it. Not seeing this knows and there is a possibility to use, too. Please inform me of this when there is an owner in surroundings. Moreover, the main body of DevHook and the relation file of all versions were deleted from this site. As a result, opening DevHook on this site to the public is completely stopped.”

Sony has also requested pspsoftware.ddo.jp to notify them when Booster is online. (So they want to talk, ehhh?…)

Now don’t go crying that DevHook won’t be getting updated anymore. We aren’t sure yet.

DevHook doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere. But we’ll just have to wait and see what Booster says and what Sony does."

NO don't boycott. We need to buy as many ps3's as we can, or sony is bye-bye.

im not boycotting for this reason only... and sony isnt that great compared to Microsoft and Nintendo + they have their computers and other stuff to fall back on thell be fine with out games

You would be surprised, several buisness analysts think that if the PS3 goes funk, Sony willl take a HUGE hit and may be in the hole for a few years to come. Just think, if the PS3 fails, so does Blueray....

Yesterday while having fun with the new Devhook.. I also wondered on a few things.. like:

1. Now that we can emulate higher firmware.. there won't be any need for upgrading our 1.50 PSP ever!
2. I wonder how Sony is taking this? Hey they got my money! I did buy my PSP.. I didn't emulate that sucker.
3. I guess the only ones suffering are the people that make and sell the games. But I do hate those crooks at gamestop where they will buy your used UMD games for 2 bucks and turn it around and sell it for 30 bucks! I don't care if they go hungry! LOL!
4. Will Sony eventually give up on PSPs and go with another game device?
5. Will Sony shut down Devhook if it becomes to close for comfort?

And then POW! today I read this and I say.. oh sh*t! I am one of the lucky ones!!

lol it's not like Booster is gonna stop making, he will just have to find a new way around this or find a different place to host it lol

oh and I am starting the Boycott of TEIN's dumb ideas!

yeah, the xbox has been illegal from teh beginning and we have an even greater homebrew scene...

off topic but is there brew on the 360? im getting 1 this weekend and im interested

There might be, there was a strong rumor of xbox homebrew running via the 360s built in Xbox 1 emulator, just gotta wait and see.

Im fairly well convinced at this time that those screenshots were fake. Everyone believed them to be real at the time but no news has come of it since. I'm convinced it was just a combonation of photoshop and XBMC running under the blackbolt MC360 skin. At this time the only thing you can do with a 360 is flash the dvd rom chip so that you can make and play backup discs from your PC with onboard serial ATA ports (or through the use of a specific single PCI card type). Plus your PC must have a good dual-layer DVD burner. It is quite involved and there really arent enough good games to make it worth doing at this time imo.

Couldnt disagree more Necro, if its fake, it had nothing to do with blackbolts skin.

The only reason I would want to boycott ps3 would be since we wont be able to sell games

i forgot about that.. more of a reason for me not to but 1 HA HA!!
