well, if it is a circle shape... it is kinda weird. Here's my ideas.

1. pressed to hard/ held too hard (could easily be where a finger pressed too hard and damaged the screen)
2. pressure was applied to the psp unit itself and something internally damaged the screen.
3. an image was displayed on the screen for an extremely long period of time (not likely)
4. some people have errors if they use the 3.03 downgrader on a psp that came stock with version 2.71 or higher and had a ta-082 - ta-086 motherboard (brightness errors... though it doesn't sound like what you are experiencing).
5. Dirty?
6. Screen protector got smudged (the adhesive can distort the screen sometimes).

odd indeed

I know and hope its not that big of a deal and all but its vary annoying listening to music or playing a game with this dot thing.

Just a note i have a 3.03

Edit

I just checked and i have a 3.01 PSP

Fixes the pixels up on your screen, but yeah the bulb is probably out, a pixel fixer most likely wont help,
but I believe theres a good one on our brewery pack.

I have 5 dead pixels, and they are all odd colors. One is white (the only noticeable one unless you inspect for 10 minutes) and then I have 2 blue ones, a green one, and a red one.

I have yet to find a "pixel fixer" that has worked for ANY of them... and in theory... a pixel fixer can cause damage as well as fix the screen.
