PSP News

Wow, it has been a while since we last heard from DAX but here is some news from him. We now have update 3 of some of his latest work. It has fixed some of the major issues people have been complaining about and most of all, it shows DAX might be around a little while longer.Wink

3.71 might not have the best themes yet but i hate seen some that are pretty nice.  So, time to get out your PSP to upgrade.

Thanks  majik2007 for the heads up.

Requirements:
- 3.71 M33 1 or 2

Installation:
Copy the update folder to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE and run it.

Changes:

- Fixed a bug in access to flash by usb.
- HEN core: kernel prx's with syscall exports work again.
- PSP Slim: programmers can set the size of user memory to 52 MB by using a sfo flag. Check sample in sdk for usage.
- March33 NO-UMD driver:
* Fixed a bug that could hang the psp when exiting with home.
* Fixed compatibility issue with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, and maybe more games.
- Vshmenu: it wasn't displaying properly with psp slim TV-OUT due to the change of resolution.Fixed.

Included with the release is a new version of popsloader:

Requirements:

- 3.71 M33-3 or higher (until sony makes it not to work again :p). It won't work in prior versions of 3.71 M33, because it needs a function from 3.71 M33-3.

Changes:

- Support for 3.71 and 3.72 pops has been added. Note that 3.71 however will not appear in the list in 3.71 M33 as it is not necessary.

List of files needed for each version:

3.00-3.03: kd/popsman.prx, kd/meaudio.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.10-3.30: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.40-3.72: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx, vsh/module/libpspvmc.prx

The files must be decrypted. (use square in psardumper). Support for encrypted&packed files is planned for the future.

Alright guys there is now a new firmware out! This time around you might not be thanking DAX. But think again, this new firmware has been reverse engineered for DAX custom firmware.

But thanks to _HellDashX_ this version has a 3.72 in the name. 3.72 HX-1.

Alright guys here is a little info about the firmware from the official thread of the release.

"First of all,a big thanks to Dark_alex

Thanks to him I learned alot.

After reversing the whole 3.71 M33-2 custom firmware(you can have a prove if you want),
and knowing that Dax is retired,I decided to release the custom firmware.

The Recovery is the old one, soon update will come with new one,my own.

Not much changed from 3.71 to 3.72 so I just had to adapt the code to the new firmware.

The updater is the same as Dax's(all reversed by me,too).
No 1.5 kernel included.

INSTALATION

Put the eboot and the umodule.prx in the folder PSP/GAME/UPDATE and put the oficial 3.72 eboot with the name 372.PBP in the same folder.

The sony code will install 3.72, when it says to press X,You MUST PRESS X.DONT SHUTDOWN!

IF YOU DONT PRESS X YOU WILL BRICK!.

Tested on PSP Fat 3.71 M33-1 and 3.71 M33-2 same for SLIM.

Again thanks to Dark_Alex (for the good time) and Coolj for being my good betatester.

_HellDashX_"

Ok with that said lets all give a big thaks to _HellDashX_ ,and also DAX, And Coolj.

(Also i great big thanks to mice R nice ~(_"> for the heads up )

So why not give this new firmware a try!

N64 emualtor logo

Alright, like the title says its out! After a somewhat long wait we can now all enjoy this great emulator, and even with savesstates!

Here is the info about the release straight from StrnmNrmn's blog.

"The most significant new feature is savestate support. You can now save your progress at any point, via the Pause Menu (accessed through hitting the Select button). Savestates are written out to the memory stick, and consume around a megabyte per slot. You can load up a savestate at any time from the Pause Menu, or via the front end (hit the right shoulder button to swap from the rom list to the savestate list.)

Other than savestates, the most significant change in R13 is a number of optimisations to the dynarec core which should give a 10-20% speedup depending on the title being played. I've tested these optimisations as much as I can, but if you find that roms which worked with R12 are now broken, try disabling 'dynamic recompilation' and/or 'dynarec stack optimisation' from the rom's preferences screen.

I haven't looked at compatibility at all in R13, so it's unlikely that any roms will have started working in R13.

I'm interested to hear your feedback on both of these features. Let me know if you have any problems with savestates, or if you've found roms are no longer working in R13. I'll try and keep on top of the comments pages over the next couple of weeks.

It's taken a LOT longer to get R13 out than I had hoped. I can't quite belive the last release was in June! I'm hoping now I've got this release out of the door I'll be able to get back to making small, more frequent releases."

Ok with that said here are the download links so you can l enjoy this great new update, for this already great emulator

Yes, everyone knows how to make a Pandora battery by now. Have you ever thought of making the BATTERY without a second psp? Well, here is the way to do it.

First go out and buy yourself another battery. This is because after you do this your battery will not work anymore. Make sure your new battery says "MADE IN CHINA" since sony is now shipping "un-pandorable" making batterys that dont allow you to convert it.

Next make sure you have some soldering knowledge, and you are on your way.

Take a look at these pictures and with one soldering of a wire you have now made a Pandora BATTERY without the need of another psp.

    Make Pandora Battery for Slim

Thanks to Darkpacman77 on this site for the idea and thanks to psp-hacks for giving this information.

***you don't need a second PSP to make the memory stick  correctly AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A CARD READER for your computer.

Just like it says there is now a version of Anti Update for the PSP slim!

A PSP before A PSP after

This is an Prx plugin file was made by Coolj but he also gives credit for some of the code to Team tOc and _HellDashX_.

Now for those of you who havent heard about this plugin, what it does, is hide the UMD update icon, thus making it so you can not update off a UMD.

So for those of of us who might not want it there so that we cant make a mistake, or maybe have a friend or family member who might, and end up with an updated PSP slim this is great!

So what said give this great Prx a try

    This is a PSP

That's right, thanks to this new release from Tabula those of you who are on 3.71 M33 too can now enjoy the this great Prx.

This update you not only get the ability to run this Prx on 3.71 m33 but also its been reported to work with the slim PSP!

Now before you get to crazy with joy, please take note that this is a beta version and there are quite alot of error reports. Here is a small list of bugs reported by users.

*This keeps freezing my PSP after switching songs a few times… Also, every time I try and access Music from actual memory stick option, and try and play a song, instantly freezes up.
    * it crash with VSH menu when pressing NOTE|SELECT. And it crash with Cwcheat..after u enter the game..no way out..
    * It only works while i am playing. Is not working in the internet or xmb.
    * psp crashes after 5 musics….

But not to worry this is still a beta and bugs can be fixed.

This particular release is for version 2, which will hopefully fix the reported music/video player problems.

Now for those of you who might want to try this out, we strong suggest that you read the readme first to get an idea of how .

With that said enjoy this great release.

    IR-Shell

For all who haven't heard, yes, AhMan has updated his famous IR-Shell to 3.7 now. This works for FAT PSP OWNERS only. You have to have a CFW (works with 3.71 M33) or 1.50. Here are some key changes..

    * Added support for M33 3.71 CFW for PSP Fat.
    * Screen redirection via Tyranid's remotejoy. UMD Game compatibility has also been enhanced and save/load dialogue boxes
will no longer crash. Thanks to Tyranid for making this possible.
    * 2 Player PSOne games via usbhostfs/nethostfs keypad direction using 2 PC joysticks/keyboard. Screen redirection via remotejoy is also supported for PSone games.
    * Support for M33 popsloader when IR Shell running under M33 3.52 CFW. Only the latest verion popsloader is supported (that is, the one for pops from 3.00 to 3.52). All other previous versions of popsloader won't work with IR Shell. If you're running IR Shell under M33 3.71, the "POP Version" setting in IR Configurator is ignored. This is due to popsloader currently doesn't work with M33 3.71 due to changing NIDs by Sony.
    * Support for M33 UMD Video ISO feature under IR Shell File Browser. This will also work with USBHostFS & NETHostFS. Again, for legally owned backups only.
    * The number of iR Shell EBOOTs for various firmwares have been consolidated into just 2. One for firmware 1.5, and the other for firmware 2.x/3.x. This should make it earier for users.
    * A new autoboot seplugin is introduced to replace the old "irsfw30x.prx". This plugin will work under all firmware versions, including 3.71.

To download this new IR-Shell click here.

Make sure to read the readme file included.

For beginners who don’t know what IR-Shell is, it's a multimedia application that allows you to listen to music, view pictures, launch homebrew, view memory stick files, and even copy and paste files. There is also a lot more this nifty app can do. You can set it to where you launch it from XMB or even launch before the XMB is booted up.

Our forum friend, eckounltd is on the ball lately. Recently he informed us of a bug fix for custom firmware 3.71 M33. Yes, Dark_AleX is the one behind it still… so let's hope the rumors of him leaving begin to fade away. Anyways, this bug fix addresses a few important things. To be a jerk, I'll just repeat, word-for-word, what psp-hacks has to say.

    • There was a bug that caused corruption when writing files of more than 32256 bytes using usb flash. The bug has been corrected, and now the implementation is as reliable as it was when it was based on 1.50 kernel. (tested with a full restoration of a dump)
    • Psp Slim: a functionality to let the charge of battery when connecting a usb cable has been added. This feature is based on Noobz plugin code. By default is not enabled, you can enable it in recovery. Note that the charge of battery may be delayed some seconds since the moment you plug the cable.
    • After installing this update, program at /PSP/GAME/UPDATE will always be executed on 3.71 kernel, despite configuration.
    • VSHMenu: vshmenu will not be executed when onscreen keyboard is active, to avoid the lost of the select button function in the keyboard. An option to reset the psp has been added.
    • VSH plugins are not longer executed anymore in recovery mode, that was the cause of pseudo-bricks.

Also, a bug that sometimes crashes the PSP upon coming out of sleep mode has also been fixed. Be warned though, two bugs still exist – those, however, are Sony's fault. It's a little illegal to edit Sony's code to fix their error, so I expect that this will be fixed officially by Sony with a new firmware release, but you never know. Download this by clicking the link below, which was uploaded by eckounltd .
