Tetriabetes

Ok, so you probably know the game by now if you've been an active member of the homebrew community,
but if you aren't, Tetriabetes has quickly become one of the favorite "Tetris" clones to hit the PSP scene. In
fact, it's now been updated to version 1.50b2. The coder, Dragula96, thinks that Tetriabetes is probably in its
last stages of development. He's mentioned on various sites that version 1.50 will probably be the last release
of Tetriabetes unless any additional bugs are found and need to be addressed. He's ok with other coders
continuing his work, however, so if you want to get your feet wet in the homebrew scene, once Dragula stops
working on this program, maybe one of you homebrewers out there could make additions to Tetriabetes!

The interesting thing about this new release is the "Invisible Blocks Mode". This type of gameplay is sure
to keep you focused on the game! But it doesn't stop there. Perhaps the most significant aspect of version
1.50b2 is that Dragula96 has tweaked the game so that no matter what, no single "block shape" will just
"not appear". In fact, he's made it so that all shapes will drop within 12 turns of one another. What that
means is that you don't have to go through getting 20 "t-shapes" in a row or wait longer than 12 drops for
one of those sacred "long 4 blocks". The screenshot above is from version 1.42, but all you have to do is
click the link below to be sent straight to our downloads section and get your hands on Tetriabetes 1.50b2!

                                        Bad guys?
The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association, according to MCV, is looking at the possibility of removing flashcart retailers in the UK. Their point is that a flashcart can be used to work around the copyright protection, which can open the door for piracy.

quote:
"The supply of these items is an infringement and an offence under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and the Trade Marks Act 1994. ELSPA’s IP Crime Unit works closely with the enforcement agencies to stop this supply and prevent instances of intellectual property theft."

Certainly interesting news, and something to keep an eye on if you are one of our UK readers.

I'm sure most of you iPhone/iPod Touch users are waiting for the big day.. July 11th. Now for those of you who don't have a clue on what July 11th is SO special about heres a little re-cap.

                                                                                                         iPhone 2.0

Now back in June 9th, another big day, Apple had a WWDC 2008 Conference in SanFrancisco. That was the day the the "2.0" and iPhone 3G became a reality. June 9th was suppose to be the release date of iPhones' new software version 2.0.  But on that day, Steve Jobs announced that the actual release date is on July 11th. He ran us through some very important details and updates. Here is a list of the updates he announced:

iPhone:

-New 2.0 is coming out

-New Model of iPhone is coming out

-New Features such as "Microsoft Enterprise" is coming out

-Mobile AppStore is coming out

-The new iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit) is coming out

iPod:

-All if the Features on iPhone 2.0 is coming out on iPod 2.0

Macs:

-A sneek peak at Mac OS X 7.7 "Snow Leopard"

Other Apple Stuff:

-iTunes 7.7 is coming out.

Now when we heard the moment he said "Now this will all be availible at July 11" we were dissapointed. June 9th was suppose to be the date it all happens. But it was said, "July 11". Now we all are looking forward to Friday. But now a question has raised. Is 2.0 Jailbreakable? We will find out Soon.

That's right, yet another NDS slot-one flash cart out on the market.  This one's called KGB DS.  It looks like a very reasonable cart with no notable flaws but it hasn't gotten underway yet so this is only an assumption.  Here is the list of features straight from the site:

KGB FEATURES:

  • Plays all commercial NDS ROMS
  • Plays all homebrew NDS ROMS
  • Interactive touch OS
  • Compatible with Moonshell (multimedia files such as movies and MP3's)
  • Action Replay cheat codes supported
  • Regular free OS updates
  • Automatic save game type detection support
  • Supports unpatched ROMs
  • High quality snap lock Micro SD slot

  • Quality SDHC TF/Micro SD reader included
  • MicroSDHC cards are supported (up to 32GB)
  • Allows you to adjust screen brightness for NDSL
  • IGR (In Game Reset)
  • Supports all “Download Play” ROMS
  • Many slot 2 expansions supported
  • Multiple language user interface
  • Save game stored directly on MicroSD

They make it clear that a file called "KGB.DAT" has to be downloaded onto your micro SD but they don't have the file available yet.  Will this be the new best thing of DS homebrew?  Who knows, but for now we'll have to wait patiently for it to go public.

Halo 4

News has just started to circulate about a supposedly major announcement that Bungie has in store for July 14th, which coincidentally is the same as the Microsoft E3 Press Conference:

Quote:

The latest Bungie podcast, which features the usual internal shenanigans — we get up to speed on the developer's air conditioning situation whilst discussing all things Halo — ends with a potential tease about the team's next title being revealed. After lamenting the lack of hard, breaking news over the course of the 91-minute(!) podcast, co-hosts Brian Jarrard and Luke Smith cruelly tease something being revealed at E3.

The following exchange wraps up the Bungie Podcast.

Brian: Isn't there something going on on July 14th or something like that?
      Luke: Yeah, around then.
Brian: Somehow that's sticking in my head for some reason. Guess we'll have to see.
Luke: Yep, we'll just have to be patient. Who could say?

No, not very helpful. Listening to it though, is very different from reading it, as Smith and Jarrard's delivery leaves little doubt that Bungie has something up its sleeve.

We're sure that since both Microsoft and EA are holding their press conferences that day, at least one of them is going to announce something good. And it might even be Bungie related. And it might even have something to do with that little plunger man they've been shoving in our faces all year.

This news is particularily interesting, as it backs up a story that surfaced a couple days ago. You may or may not have seen this elsewhere, but there's also a rumor going around that Halo 4 is supposed to be announced at E3.  It looks like this annonymous source may be telling the truth…

Quote:

Our inside woman/man/thing got hold of some pretty exciting news. News that Bungie was already hard at work developing what will be Halo 4. Now we're told that this will be announced officially at E3.
