Dolphin Browser

We’ve already seen that the Droid is perfectly capable of implementing multitouch gestures in third-party apps, and the most high-profile (if not the most important, period) implementation of that is in a good web browser where non-stop zooming is a way of life especially when browsing sites designed for desktops. Dolphin which has been kicking around for a couple months in the Market has just added multitouch support on the Droid, which automatically makes it an interesting alternative to Android’s mediocre (well, mediocre by WebKit standards, anyhow) built-in fare. If you’re running Android and you’ve got a couple fingers to spare, just check it out yourself from the Android MarketPlace.

Fring was the first to bring VoIP calls to the iPhone, and it looks like it’s now finally done the same for video calling sort of. While it obviously can’t do much to change the camera placement on the iPhone, the latest version of the app will at least let iPhone users (and iPod touch users, for that matter) see the person on the other end, and Fring says it’ll add two-way video calling whenever “a front camera is placed on these.” As with the company’s app for Nokia devices, you’ll also be able to make video calls to Skype users, but you’ll have to make sure you’re in the vicinity of a WiFi hotspot, as this one doesn’t support calls on 3G.

Alrighty, so, a while ago, FreePlay discovered a game save exploit that would run homebrew. He didn’t want to give it away because he knew Sony would patch it. However, Sony got it’s hands on the exploit and patched it up in a recent firmware update. So, FreePlay released what he had been working on. Now, we’re passing it onto you!

Firstly, I’d have to point out that this exploit requires firmware 6.10 and requires Archer McLean’s Mercury.

Second, thank you FreePlay for making this possible! This will definitely lead to some great stuff! :D

Fantastic news for all you people out there with the new PSP Go!:

There’s an eLoader being developed as we speak! FreePlay’s gotten his Savegame exploit to work and proved that it was universal- meaning that it works on all gamesaves and all PSP models. He’s now gotten the NID resolver working flawlessly and if he can peice together the eLoader source code from team N00bz of Noobz.eu, then we’ll have a perfectly working eLoader!

I can’t wait to see the outcome of this!  :D

Yep, that’s right, in the upcomming holiday season and release of major titles such as Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2 Microsoft has begun the next ban wave of consoles (not xbl accounts). The results of the bans have been very diversed from bannings of consoles that don’t even play multiplayer games online, to those that have played pre-released games. While the exact reasons of this ban wave are unknown so far, all that is known is several people haven been banned, and others haven’t. It’s all random at this point. I for one haven’t been banned yet but I wish the best of luck to anyone that is using ixtreme currently on their 360’s.

Well it seems that Microsoft has been contacted by IGN, and reports that only a small percentage of flashed 360’s have been banned. Here is the full story: IGN

Joystiq received some interesting info from a reader today. The source claimed to have taken part in a survey run by Microsoft which featured avatars playing classic arcade games in a virtual arcade setting. If that sounds familiar, you probably played PlayStation Home for 5 minutes (and then never again).
