DLC

When was the last time any of you bought anything online on your PSP? When was the last time you purchased levels for LittleBigPlanet for the PS3? I’m pretty the answer to both of those are going to be a ‘Never.’

Silicornera had a nice little post about how a demo version of LittleBigPlanet for the PSP was stuck at a menu showing a “Purchased Levels” option. Pretty interesting considering that there’s only been a few releases of purchasable levels for the PS3. I wonder if they’re waiting to release more when the PSP version comes out. If so, will the same levels be available for both consoles?

Argh

Have a hacked iPhone but still want to be secure from the SMS attacks? The iPhone Dev-Team suggests using RedSn0w 0.8 since the code that the program changes on your phone is identical when compared to the the 3.0 firmware. The only thing you’d need to do differently is whenever you’re asked to identify which IPSW is used, point to the 3.0 IPSW. That simple.

Piano

Easy Piano is coming out from Namco in November this year with a little something cool- A piano peripheral! :D

It’ll help you learn to play the piano if you’re just starting or if you’re an already experienced pianist, you can play from a list of ‘classics.’ It would be interesting if there was a mode for free play. No word yet on that.

It’s pretty cool looking but looks like you need the GBA slot to use it. Sucks for those with the DSi…

301

Apple released an iPhone update to 3.0.1. It prevents SMS attacks. I’d recommend downloading and installing the patch. No word yet on hackability… Foot in mouth

World

Turn off your iPhones!!! Well, for today, at least. I wasn’t going to post this since it had just been a rumor.. Now it’s been posted on major news sites such as The Feed and Engadget.

So, here’s the situation. Appearantly, some hackers have been able to create a malicious SMS (AKA text message) that can tell your iPhone what to do without you controlling it. It’s sent ‘invisibly’ so you don’t even know your infected. From there, the hackers have access to everything- They can turn on your mic and camera and snap some shots, steal passwords from Safari, completely lock down and brick your phone, steal phone numbers and pictures, or anything else they can think of. The SMS would work like this: They send the message, you recieve it, the iphone goes to preview the message and reads a snippit of code, the code tells the iPhone not to preview the SMS but instead follow other snippits of code. Those snippits can be anything the hackers want them to be.

So why is this the end of the world? Well, the SMS’s are set to be released today. No real word on who’s behind it but appearantly Apple’s known for a while about the exploit and has yet to patch it because they can’t find the loophole that the hackers are talking about. These hackers got me thinking… How would they send out the SMS’s? One would assume that a bulk spam message would be sent out over the entire AT&T network or something but then everyone would receive the message and people without the iPhone would be like, “What’s this garbage? Another spam message… DELETE!” That would take a lot of computer power that most hackers don’t have access to. There is another way.. AT&T has the ability to see which phone you’re using on their network and they file it. (Don’t believe me? Check your phone bill and see if it says ‘iPhone’ at the top.) Hackers may have come across this list and would be able to send out the messages to only iPhone holders. The less messages they send, the faster and more attacks the can deal.

P.S. If you think this is an April Fool’s joke, take a look at your calender.

Tweet Tweet

So, during E3 of 2009, Microsoft stated that it would be releasing a dashboard update to include intigration of both Twitter and Facebook to their console the XBox 360. The even had executives demo both the abilities that you’d have moving from the 360’s dashboard to and through the Facebook portal and Twitter portal and back. No real date had been givin for the release of the portals until now.

Appearantly, these releases will be available before Christmas this year in all regions. No real word on Last.fm but it’s safe to say that it will be released around the time that Facebook and Twitter are released. What is said about Last.fm and the other two is that they are going to all be seperately downloadable and all released at different times. I guess this is to save hard disc space for those who don’t want one or all of these. (Or so Microsoft won’t get hammered with complaints from all three being buggy all at once.)

Whatever the case is, I’m kinda looking forward to these being released. I don’t own a 360 but the more features for a console, usually the better. (I don’t include the Vitality Sensor as a feature.)

DSi

Seems like everyone’s jumping on the Facebook bandwagon these days. It’s weird how the developer’s haven’t noticed the Twitter craze yet except on the 360…

Anyways, Japan’s got a new update for the DSi today for 1.4 and all it adds is Facebook intigration and “Faster Image Processing Speeds.”

During E3 2009, Nintendo noted that this update wouldn’t come until fall for the U.S. and other regions. Not too sure when exactly or if this update has any anti-piracy measures.

Colours

Pretty, huh? I think so too. Sony released the silver-colored Dualshock 3 controllers earlier this year in the U.S. and other parts of the world and white was released a while back. I ordered in a white controller off of eBay around Christmas of last year nad it looks great for you guys who haven’t seen a different colored controller than black. Sony stated that they will be released around October but no word yet on pricing. My guess is about $50 USD like the other colors.

Landed

$8 USD. How’d I know that was the first thing you were going to ask? Because that’s the only thing anyone would need to know before buying the game and everyone’s buying the game. You can get it off the App Store this very second.
