Similar to BOOSTER’s DevHook; TimeMachine loads previous official/custom firmwares

off the memory stick using a Pandora battery and custom IPLs.

The timemachine is useful to run software that is not supported anymore, and also as a way of booting psp’s even if the internal firmware is destroyed. It can also be useful for developers to test their homebrew in different firmwares.

The packaged readme details the available installation options, usage, known problems and considerations; I strongly encourage you to read that over before you begin.

Find all the necessary firmwares here (official), and here (custom).

TimeMachine v0.1 currently supports the following:

  • Original 1.50 — can only be loaded on the phat
  • 1.50 with some 3.40 hw modules — can be loaded on both, phat and slim
  • 3.40 OE — can only be loaded on phat
  • 3.60 M33 — can only be loaded on slim

Other firmwares are said to be added in the future.

3.90 M33-2 changes:

  • Improvements in plugins loading code:
    • Fixed some problems with problematic cards due to file system not mounted.
    • Now plugins should read faster.
    • Problem fixed with lines with spaces at the end.
  • Added the rest of regions to the recovery option fake region.
  • (PSP SLIM): Added patches in nand ipl to allow Booster multiiplloader and TimeMachine iplloader to boot from nand.
  • Note: only 3.90 M33-2 and higher can be booted from nand in slim with those ipl loaders, not official Sony firmwares or previous versions of M33.

Changes in updater:

  • The 3.90 eboot downloading code is now more stable, no more freezes after selecting AP
  • Memory stick write in the 3.90 downloading code is delayed the maximum possible for faster operation (the system prefers big chunks of data written at once).

if you didnt notice there is mention of "TimeMachine" this app will be able to allow slim users to run homebrew on the 1.50 kernel, this is not out yet

but with this mention im guessing it will be here soon.

It is official!  $129

The Xbox 360 HD-DVD player is now $129. I am guessing the dramatic price drop Amazon had for a few hours ($79 for a 360 HD-DVD player coming with the choice of 5 free HD-DVDs) made Microsoft decide to make another price drop. Another reason is the Blu-Ray dominance at the moment and Toshiba chipped in to make a price drop happen.

Well it doesn’t matter how it was done as long as it was. The consumer can now enjoy up to 1080P Hi-Def for $129. (HDMI 360 required)

CJPC is reporting the successful decryption of a PS3 ELF file off an original retail game disc. This method removes both the disc and file layer of encryption on the EBOOT.BIN.

In addition, they also claim to have successfully downgraded a PlayStation 3 console without need for a flash dump backup, “…to downgrade your PS3 you first need a copy of the original firmware (made with Infectus). However our method does not need any flash backup, as it uses the PS3’s updates to downgrade for us.”

Although it’s certainly possible, no release has been made… Could this be it — the PS3 finally hacked? Will Sony survive another round? Who knows… Tune in again — anytime, same PS3 channel. Yeah, you know what’s up.

With all the new additions to the PSP scene, the latest is the rather unique karoke machine by "Marvin"

Details:

Supports MP3+G playback; that’s 2 files, a .mp3 accompanied by a .cdg. You'll be able to create your own background by replacing "BG.PNG" with your own image. You'll play songs from the MP3G folder. The songs have to be named m1.mp3, m2.mp3, …mX.mp3 with a corresponding m1.cdg. The ‘1′ will be used as the song number. Alternatively, you can populate a sqlite3 database (kpl.db) which allows you to forgo with the naming convention and store MP3G files in different locations on the memory stick. Note that most MP3G files on the internet don’t have mp3 id tags. The sqlite database has columns for artist names and song titles.

This is a concept beta version with the following features:

Plays MP3 + CDG Format

  • Add songs to queue
  • Play, Pause
  • Sqlite3 songs database

Controls:

  • TRIANGLE – Show song number input
  • UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT – Input song number
  • CROSS – Add song number to the songs queue
  • SQUARE – Skip to next song
  • CIRCLE – Play / Pause

While the readme says “psp slim & lite”, it's been confirmed that its working on PSP Phats with 3.90 M33

Dark AleX the god among men that he is, has contributed a lot to the handheld homebrew scene, and his latest project is certainly looking to be quite the contribution indeed. Introducing the Time Machine, a handy app that installs the 1.50 kernel onto your PSP Slim. Yes, that's what it does, and there's a video to prove it, too!

Of course, installing the 1.50 kernel onto your PSP Slim may not be the only thing it does, as Mathieulh has revealed that Time Machine is still a work in progress, and is not yet the final product. We're certainly curious ourselves as to what else Time Machine can do, but until we get more info about it, we'll just have to let this video of it in action tide us over. Enjoy!

3.90 M33 changes:

  • 3.80 -> 3.90
  • March33 NO UMD: fixed (yet another) bug related with exiting with home. (infinite semaphore wait)

M33 Updater changes:

  • The degeneration check and correction of IDS keys happens too in 3.71 now.
  • Added code to download 3.90 PBP from net via wifi. Note that his code is not yet 100% stable, it may crash when selecting AP. In that case, re-init the installer.
  • L+triangle has been restored as method to bypass battery. If you already have 390.PBP keep those buttons pressed until you see “Veryfing 390.PBP”. If the 390.PBP is being downloaded via wifi, press those buttons at the end of download until you see the previous sentence.
  • and for us fat users 1.50 add-on is out

Thats right, Sony pumped out a new firmware today (3.90). The only real add on is skype: “a phone like system that can also use video over the internet” and is only usable on slim psps. Other than that is a network tittle update.

This is very interesting…..very interesting indeed. Microsoft and Toshiba have worked close for the longest now…..but maybe not much longer. So far this is a rumor and is intended to be taken as one. Take it as you will though.

Marketing bigwig Jeff Bell says Microsoft has been talking to Blu-ray about the possibility of a partnership all along.

Warner Bros.'s recent decision to exclusively pick the Sony-championed disc format, and did not rule out the possibility MS will adopt it at some point in the future.

"We've been talking to Blu-ray all along because we have the best piece of software in the business, called HDi. It is the backbone that powers interactivity in HD-DVD and we have that available to potentially partner with others," Jeff Bell told 1UP.

"You never say never. I think we'd like to see how things evolve. Our commitment, however, to HD-DVD is profound and consistent, and we have done very, very well in term of our accessory sales.

With Blu-Ray ruling over HD-DVD so far it wouldn't surprise me.

Take it as a rumor. Also, it is rumor the sun will come out tomorrow.

So, you may not have heard, but Resistance 2 was finally announced a couple of weeks ago. Judging by the response we received from you guys, we suspect you'd appreciate seeing any scrap of information on the game that we can find. Well, we wouldn't call these seven screenshots scraps. They show off the Chimera's new look, with their slim-fit suits, as well as a range of environments. Exciting stuff! Go have a look for yourselves, the gallery can be found below.
