Team M33 comes through again with another win for the homebrew scene. This is the first custom firmware ever made for the PSP Slim. Anyhow, here are the release notes for Custom firmware 3.60 for the Slim…

  • We are proud to present the first custom firmware for the PSP Slim, and the first custom firmware that runs using a 3.XX IPL (3.60).
  • 3.60 M33 for PSP Slim has all the features of 3.52 M33, except the 1.50 kernel support, as that kernel doesn't work properly on psp slim (hardware problems, screen problems). 3.60 M33 will load homebrew from GAME, GAME150 and GAME360 directories, but all will be executed with 3.60 kernel.
  • This mean that some homebrews done specifically for the 1.50 kernel cannot work on 3.60 M33. However, the adaptation of code to 2.XX+ kernels is not difficult, and homebrew developers can port their aplications to work in these firmwares.

As always, make sure to follow the instructions that come with this package and take notice to its warnings as neither I or any members of pspbrew.com will take responsibility for your misfortunes.

More great news arrives from Team M33. This new version of Popsloader is compatable on all current custom firmwares released to date (with the exception of the new 3.60 M33 for PSP Slim). For those of you who have been living in the dark, popsloader is basically a PSOne emulator for your PSP. Anyways, without further ado, here are the release details…

  • Added the remaining pops: 3.00-3.03
    • These pops require the following modules: kd/meaudio.prx kd/popsman.prx kd/pops.prx and vsh/module/pafmini.prx. As always, they go in seplugins/popsloader directory with the naming meaudio3xx.prx, popsman3xx.prx etc.
  • Added compatibility between savedata <= 3.30 and those of 3.40 and higher.
    • The thing works like this: If you have been playing in for example 3.52 pops, and then you select a pops from 3.00-3.30, popsloader will automatically convert the savedata into the old format.
    • The reverse operation, from old format to new format, will be done by Sony code with a confirmation dialog.
  • popsloader plugin work in 3.51 M33, 3.52 M33 and….. 3.60 M33 for PSP slim. Coming soon.

As promised, Fanjita and Team Noobz have delivered a downgrader and homebrew enabler (HEN) for 3.11 firmware users. In order to run the downgrader/HEN, you will require a European or US version of Lumines. It is also noted that this release will fix the problem with idstorage issues that disallowed TA-082 – TA-086 motherboards from upgrading past 3.30 on official firmwares.

Anyways, to clarify the details of this release a little bit more, heres what you can accomplish with this package…

This release consists of HEN for v3.11,  plus a v3.11 downgrader, and an idstorage key fixer for v3.11.  This allows you the choice of either

  • staying on v3.11 to run homebrew
  • downgrading to v1.50 to run homebrew or install custom firmwares, or
  • upgrading to official Sony firmwares v3.30 or beyond.

The coder known as Fanjita, recently affiliated with team Noobz, has decided to step down from the PSP homebrew scene.

As read here , Fanjita is leaving for a few reasons. The main reason, as one would assume, is that a bond of trust between Fanjita and his partners was broken before the release of Pandora's Battery. No word is out as to who is responsible for the "betrayal of trust" that Fanjita describes in his "rant". Furthermore, he is leaving for more personal reasons. If you've been following his more personal life, you should know that he is entering into the realm of fatherhood and not only that, but he has a couple projects that he'd like to finish up and then be through with the PSP scene. Apparently, Fanjita is finishing up those last projects and then is leaving the homebrew scene for good.

We at PSPBrew would like to thank and also congratulate Fanjita on his various projects which enhanced the homebrew experience for thousands of PSP users worldwide. Fanjita is most well-known for his hand in the creation of the e-loader which enabled homebrew for those 2.xx users who hadn't previously had it, as well as his genius in the aid of the Pandora's Battery project. Farewell Fanjita, you will be missed.

This is a monumental day for the homebrew community as Team Noobz and Team C&D have released a program entitled "Pandora's Battery" which allows you to unbrick a psp. What this program does is turn your normal PSP battery into a "Jigkick Battery" and a regular 256mb memory stick pro duo into a "Magic Stick". These are the tools Sony themselves use to unbrick PSP's. Before you start though, you'll probably want to use a spare battery and a 256mb memory stick pro duo for this because you wont be able to use them for normal gameplay after the conversion has been completed. Here's some of the notes and restrictions packaged in the readme…

    NOTES AND RESTRICTIONS

    - The firmware in the Memory Stick is not a full 1.50, but a minimal
subset. Therefore, not all applications (such as flashers, or
      recovery apps) will load.

    - Only Memory Stick Pro Duo are compatible. Memory Stick Duo
(e.g. 32MB sticks) are not supported.

    - The IDStorage cannot be totally restored, as there is no known way
      to regenerate it properly.

    - It is strongly RECOMMENDED to make a flash dump of the PSP before
      any downgrading operation.

    - There might be a BSOD at the end of the downgrade. This is normal,
and happens on the standard downgraders.

    - All hardware revisions known at this day are supported.

    - This release contains no Sony-copyrighted material.  All required
Sony data is generated from the v1.50 update files.

    Many thanks to…

    - All work done by the Prometheus team aka Team C+D:

      Adrahil (VoidPointer)
      Booster
      Cswindle (Caretaker)
      Dark_AleX (Malyot)
      Ditlew
      Fanjita (FullerMonty)
      Joek2100 (CosmicOverSoul)
      Jim
      Mathieulh (WiseFellow)
      Nem (h1ckeyph0rce)
      Psp250
      Skylark
      TyRaNiD (bockscar)

    - With thanks to everyone who has contributed to the PSPSDK, without which
      nothing would have been possible.

For further information and instructions on how to use this program refer to the readme file included in the download.

    Camy Pro Gear Hero Pack.

    coolest Add-On for the Wii-mote?
    Wii-mote Add-On
Gerry Block thinks so, as he stated this could be the best Add-On to the Wii yet. The
Hero Pack was designed to let Nintendo Fans experience gaming through Twlight Princess
with an actual sword and shield based off from the game.

The Nunchuck fits in the handle on the backside

of the shield and the Wiimote connects straight onto the sword.

Team Wildcard does great service for the homebrew community with their release of 3.40 LE. This firmware was compiled by completely reverse engineering Dark Alex's 3.10 OE firmware. They then proceeded by updating all the tweaks for 3.40 and adding their own patches. Heres the features list…

    • Everything you know and love from 3.40 OE-A
    • Sexy new SCEP-style recovery menu
    • In-XMB configuration menu
    • Auto-detection of the kernel needed for homebrew – no need for GAME150 and GAME340; just put it all in GAME

    ————————–
    Team Wildc*rd's Shout-outs
    ————————–

    • Thanks to Mathieulh and Dark_AleX before all others! They inspired us with their awesome releases. Without them this wouldn't have happened.
    • Greetz to poison for making SCEP open-source
    • Greetz to eXonet and Malloc.us
    • Greetz to Noobz. You continue to be most excellent.
    • Greetz to Skylark, adrahil, and our benevolent testers.
    • Greetz to maxconsole, qj, and any other website that supports us!

As always, make sure to follow the instructions that come with this package and take notice to its warnings as neither I or any members of pspbrew.com will take responsibility for your misfortunes.
