That's right, yet another NDS slot-one flash cart out on the market.  This one's called KGB DS.  It looks like a very reasonable cart with no notable flaws but it hasn't gotten underway yet so this is only an assumption.  Here is the list of features straight from the site:

KGB FEATURES:

  • Plays all commercial NDS ROMS
  • Plays all homebrew NDS ROMS
  • Interactive touch OS
  • Compatible with Moonshell (multimedia files such as movies and MP3's)
  • Action Replay cheat codes supported
  • Regular free OS updates
  • Automatic save game type detection support
  • Supports unpatched ROMs
  • High quality snap lock Micro SD slot

  • Quality SDHC TF/Micro SD reader included
  • MicroSDHC cards are supported (up to 32GB)
  • Allows you to adjust screen brightness for NDSL
  • IGR (In Game Reset)
  • Supports all “Download Play” ROMS
  • Many slot 2 expansions supported
  • Multiple language user interface
  • Save game stored directly on MicroSD

They make it clear that a file called "KGB.DAT" has to be downloaded onto your micro SD but they don't have the file available yet.  Will this be the new best thing of DS homebrew?  Who knows, but for now we'll have to wait patiently for it to go public.

Halo 4

News has just started to circulate about a supposedly major announcement that Bungie has in store for July 14th, which coincidentally is the same as the Microsoft E3 Press Conference:

Quote:

The latest Bungie podcast, which features the usual internal shenanigans — we get up to speed on the developer's air conditioning situation whilst discussing all things Halo — ends with a potential tease about the team's next title being revealed. After lamenting the lack of hard, breaking news over the course of the 91-minute(!) podcast, co-hosts Brian Jarrard and Luke Smith cruelly tease something being revealed at E3.

The following exchange wraps up the Bungie Podcast.

Brian: Isn't there something going on on July 14th or something like that?
      Luke: Yeah, around then.
Brian: Somehow that's sticking in my head for some reason. Guess we'll have to see.
Luke: Yep, we'll just have to be patient. Who could say?

No, not very helpful. Listening to it though, is very different from reading it, as Smith and Jarrard's delivery leaves little doubt that Bungie has something up its sleeve.

We're sure that since both Microsoft and EA are holding their press conferences that day, at least one of them is going to announce something good. And it might even be Bungie related. And it might even have something to do with that little plunger man they've been shoving in our faces all year.

This news is particularily interesting, as it backs up a story that surfaced a couple days ago. You may or may not have seen this elsewhere, but there's also a rumor going around that Halo 4 is supposed to be announced at E3.  It looks like this annonymous source may be telling the truth…

Quote:

Our inside woman/man/thing got hold of some pretty exciting news. News that Bungie was already hard at work developing what will be Halo 4. Now we're told that this will be announced officially at E3.

Looks like the software engineers at Sony have finally finished with the problems of firmware 2.40. The firmware update included features like; in-game XMB and trophies– but was pulled shortly out of the server after its release due to massive reports on system failure. Few days after the controversial removal of firmware 2.40 from Sony's servers, firmware 2.41 is now available to download worldwide.

Let's hope that all goes well in this new system firmware update. Good luck and let's enjoy those in-games and trophies!

PS3 Brick

It looks like Sony has made a somewhat official statement regarding the status of their PS3 2.41 firmware update:

Quote:

If you've been stuck waiting on Sony to get its act together concerning firmware 2.40, you might not have to hang back much longer. According to ComputerAndVideoGames, reps from the console-maker say that an update to the broken, PS3-bricking system software will be headed out to users "midweek." The company hasn't made an official announcement yet, but it certainly is looking like 2.41 will become a reality sooner rather than later, which should be music to the ears of a lot of deeply annoyed gamers.

A new Non-Stealth version of the Benq iXtreme firmware has been released, curtosy of C4E:

Quote:

Benq iXtreme 1.41 Rev 2 Non-Stealth Multispeed

The Non-Stealth users of the Benq iXtreme firmware only had one choice speed wise when they chose the Non-Stealth firmware and that was 8x. This package gives users of Benq iXtreme Non-Stealth the choice to use whatever speed they prefer (2x, 5x, 8x, 12x).

This is NOT an update to iXtreme firmware for Benq users…this is merely an update to the Non-Stealth version which only provides different speed choices NOTHING else.

Credit goes to C4E and others, it was named Rev 2 to avoid confusion.

PSP, it's cheese, you can listen to outside

Dark-Alex's new experimental plugin, PspStates, allows users to make save-states in their games. Unlike typical save-states, the games are normal PSP games, not emulated games. This is quite convienient, albeit highly experimental, as it only works with the PSP Slim and there are issues with the plugin.

For those that are interested, here's the version 2 changelog:

Quote:

- Fixed important bug in inter-thread code (semaphore wasn't waiting due to interrupts disabled), that caused the load state to not be completely read in some cases. This caused black screen after state load (unless you just saved that state, in this case state was still in ram), or even worse, game not working properly due to partial load.

- Added states per game basis. The controls are slightly different: old controls now do a local
savestate/loadstate of the game, while pressing additionally select button will save/load
a global state. See instructions for more info.

- Fixed bug that caused normal sleep mode waking up inmediately.

- UMD discs and isos in normal UMD mode are now supported. However, they require to nullify umdcache, by flashing one file, read the instructions below.

Remember that states of the old version are all globals, and you need to press select addtionaally. Also, remember that when doing the load state of a state saved in previous version, the plugin in ram after the load will be the old one, so it is probably better to discard old save states.

Warnings: Only PSP Slim users can use the plugin, UMDs and certain ISO modes are not fully supported, and be sure to backup the full NAND of your PSP before attempting useage. PSPbrew, the Brewology, and Dark_Alex are not responsible for any errors or damages caused by use. And most importantly: Read the Read-Me file included before using the plugin.
