[PS3] JellyFin [PS] 3.4.3 hits the Brewology Store

JellyFin [PS]

Got a Jellyfin server at home? Your PS3 can finally hook into it properly. jw-notes picked up JellyFin-PS3 where MontyMcK (the original) and vortigauntlet (the LosslessAudio fork) left off, sorted out the freezes and the 1080p out-of-memory problems in 3.2.3, and has been pushing updates pretty much every day since. It’s now in the store as JellyFin [PS] 3.4.3.

The highlights:

  • Hardware H.264 up to 1080p, with real 24Hz output for movies
  • TrueHD, Atmos and DTS-HD MA decoded right on the console in 5.1 or 7.1, or Dolby Digital passthrough if you’re running a soundbar
  • Live TV with a channel grid and a guide
  • Search as you type, music with FLAC, downloads for offline watching, and MKV/m2ts files straight off a USB stick with no server needed
  • Two layouts: Classic (looks like Jellyfin in a browser) or XMB (looks like, well, the XMB), plus nine themes
  • Quick Connect, so no typing your password with a controller

New in 3.4.3, every PS3 user profile gets its own Jellyfin login and settings, there’s a Share Sign-in option for profiles that don’t have one, your profile pic shows up in the corner, and the freeze when you hit the PS button on the sign-in screen is fixed.

You’ll need your own Jellyfin server (10.11 or newer). The dev tested it on Evilnat 4.93 CFW and HEN hasn’t been tried yet, so if you’re on HEN drop a comment and let everyone know how it runs. It also has its own updater (Settings > System > Software Update) that grabs new builds from the dev’s GitHub.

Grab it from the Brewology Store.
