VitaKotorVitaKotor v0.5.1-multicore.2 by ScoobyDouche

A test pre-release from the multicore branch, aimed at playing with Shadows, Grass, Frame Buffer and 32-bit textures all on. It builds on multicore.1: the AI now runs alongside the 3D scene far more of the time, and one graphics stall the port caused itself is gone.

What changed

  • The AI waits far less for the scene. In multicore.1 the AI often had to stop partway and wait for the drawing to finish, mostly when it started a character animation or loaded a script. Animations are now queued and played the moment the drawing is done, and script loading shares the game's resource manager through a lock instead of stopping. In the Upper City the wait after each frame's drawing dropped from 3.8 ms to 2.0 ms; in the Lower City to 0.2 ms.
  • A texture update no longer stalls the frame. The game updates one texture every frame, and each update made the game core wait for the graphics core to finish everything before it: up to 3 ms a frame. It is now queued like every other draw call.
  • New option: ShadowDistance. How far away, in metres, creatures still cast shadows when Shadows is on. The default is the original 35; 20 saves about 1 ms in the Upper City crowds.
  • KOTOR-nolog.vpk: an optional build with diagnostic logging disabled. Install it in place of KOTOR.vpk if you prefer not to have a log file written.

What to expect

With every graphics option on and 32-bit textures, the Taris Lower City now averages about 34 ms a frame, right at the edge of the 30 fps lock: most frames make it, some show for an extra refresh. The Upper City South crowds still run at about 17 fps and the Undercity at about 19: those areas draw 500 to 800 objects a frame, and that work is the game's own code on one core, whatever the settings. With FrameLock at 30, frames that miss the lock are shown for an extra refresh; FrameLock=20 gives an even 20 in those areas if you prefer steady to fast.

Tweebbo VitaTweebbo Vita v1.4.7 by Tweebbo

Tweebbo for PlayStation Vita 1.4.7

Optional music and room update. Keep playing and update whenever convenient.

  • The Jukebox can queue the 72 original Kepler Classic cartridge loops. A track added on PC plays on this console, and the console playlist can add the same tracks.
  • Room Trax songs saved by anyone in the room can be added from the console. YouTube and Spotify links remain PC and phone only.
  • Room music now uses the original interface sounds for a new console message, a sent message and credits received.
  • Wall posters, paintings and other wall items stay on the visible wall face while placing or moving them.
  • The complete VPK remains available. Keep your saved data and reopen Tweebbo after updating.

Install the verified VPK from ux0:data/Tweebbo/tweebbo.vpk with VitaShell. Physical-console installation and performance acceptance remain pending.

Spyro VitaSpyro Vita v1.0 by ShayVD

A native PS Vita port of Spyro the Dragon (1998, PS1, USA SCUS-94228), built from the TheMobyCollective/spyro-1 decompilation. It isn't an emulator: the game's own code runs on the Vita's CPU, and its graphics are drawn by the Vita's GPU through vitaGL.

Features

  • The whole game, start to credits, with the original 30 Hz game logic
  • 16:9 widescreen at the Vita's native 960×544
  • Analog movement (DualShock), and a free camera on the right stick (turn and tilt) with invert X/Y and speed options
  • Quick save and load (3 state slots), plus the game's own memory card saves
  • Options menu: hold SELECT + START, or tap the middle of the screen. It covers texture filtering, perspective-correct textures, sub-pixel vertices, resolution, an experimental draw distance, skipping the intro logos, the game's built-in cheats and rear touch L2/R2.
