[PSVita] FF5-VITA 1.1, Super Mario Galaxy Vita 1.4, Ultimate Spider-Man Vita 1.1, VitaSend 0.9.6 and 2 more

6 PSVita homebrew apps were updated in the Brewology PSVita Store today:

FF5-VITAFF5-VITA v1.1 by frangarcj

  • Fix the crash during audio player destruction reported in issue #10 by creating the game thread through pthreads, which initializes the thread state required by OpenSLES condition waits. Keep the existing 1 MiB stack and Vita thread priority.
  • Close the file opened by getFileSize() after each size query, including error paths. Return an error if the file cannot be opened, measured or closed, or if its size cannot be represented by the existing API.
  • Update the build environment, package the runtime data matching the linked ICU version, and provide debug symbols and checksums alongside the VPK.

Super Mario Galaxy VitaSuper Mario Galaxy Vita v1.4 by CBOC-Vita

Third release of my build of Super Mario Galaxy for the PS Vita. This one fixes the crashes around water and adds a setting for collecting Star Bits.

Water crashes

Fixed the crash in Beach Bowl, Deep Dark and Sea Slide (#13, #19, #23).

Around water some copies of the picture change size with every frame. Each new size used up one of the Vita's few dozen render targets, and when they ran out the game crashed. The game now keeps at most 16 and reuses the oldest.

I reproduced it on a real Vita in the cave next to the eels in Beach Bowl, where it crashed within 90 seconds of swimming around. The same run with the fix went on for over 3 minutes without an error. Deep Dark and a lap of the Sea Slide ring hit the same limit and also ran clean. I didn't play the actual race against Guppy, so let me know if that one still crashes.

Star Bit Reach

Press Select in the pause menu to step through the levels:

| Level | What it does | | — | — | | Off | The original game, and the default | | 1.5×, 2×, 3× | The pointer collects Star Bits from further away | | All | Collects every Star Bit on screen, no aiming needed |

Ultimate Spider-Man for PS Vita v1.1

A big speed and stability update. Install it over 1.0: your saves and game files stay where they are.

You need your own copy of the PC game. No game data is included. New here? See the install steps in the README.

Faster

  • Typical play now runs at about 25 fps with the default 30 fps cap, and often 28-30 in quieter spots.
  • Cutscenes are much smoother.
  • Game logic, drawing and the renderer now each get their own CPU core.
  • Much of the busiest code was rewritten for the Vita's processor, and music and speech no longer pause the game while they load.

  3. Start VitaSend and open LocalSend on another device on the same Wi-Fi.

See the README and the user guide. VitaSend is GPL-3.0-or-later and not affiliated with LocalSend or Sony.
