Due to some news probably discovered by most of you recently, there has been some progress in the new libtiff exploit that caused 2.0-2.8 PSP\’s to crash. Most of you may have thought it was nothing but a project leading to a dead end (quite like the TIFF glitch for 2.5 PSP\’s a few of you may remember) but boy were you guys wrong! Since I haven\’t been so active here lately (due to busy schedule) I\’m not quite up to date with the news, but I\’d like to make my first news post a memorable one. So without further ado, let me introduce to all of you TA-082 2.5/6 users AND the 2.7-2.8 users a little something I\’d like to call HOPE.

Yes there is HOPE for your deprived little PSP\’s, and whether or not this will lead to a downgrader, at least everyone may get the opportunity to play homebrew on their PSP without any need for GTA. As of now this is only a PROOF OF CONCEPT, meaning that being a hello world application, it is here to show that there is a possibility of loading unsigned eboots on your upgraded or higher firmware PSP\’s (not to mention using homebrew without GTA on your neglected TA-082 PSP\’s).

Now onto the specs of this developmental discovery: for pictures of this application in work on all PSP firmwares check out http://pspupdates.qj.net/uploads/articles_module/63483/hw_all_qjpreviewth.jpg. If looks decieve then try it yourself by putting the application to use, because for some of you, THIS: http://dl.qj.net/dl.php?fid=9656 , should take care of your doubt. Thanks to QJ and PSPUPDATES for the images, download, and for the news. For more information read the following (yet again from QJ), if you\’re too lazy to read the original article (here http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?&threshold=&upto=1156757655 ) then read this to get the ball moving and your hopes rising:

To execute this “Hello World” application on your 2.0+ PSP, please follow the following directions -

  1. Unpack the ZIP file to your PSP\’s PHOTO folder
  2. Navigate to your PSP\’s PHOTO director and attempt to view the newly transferred picture

Note: You may find that the screen does not show correct (occasionally happens) – just restart your PSP (fully shutoff by holding the power button up) and open the picture again.

I hope everyone has gotten as much of a kick out of this as SONY will, and as a closer to this article I just wanted to say that I hope everyone is apprecitaing these developers as much as those directly effected, so please contunue to support those working hard on these projects so all of you can enjoy your PSP\’s semi-full potential for free.

So best of luck to all of you TA and 2.7+ users!!
