Apparently Sony has made an official 3.50 / 3.51 ISO loader in their new firmwares. The file is called "np9660.prx" and many are speculating that this is the first step in what Sony has promised us a long time ago – a virtual downloading resource specifically for the psp. Is Sony going to be selling commercial games via this service? Perhaps time will tell. All we know at this time is that the psp is ready for such developments in the future, so let's hope Sony gets their minds set straight and get this service up and running already.

Ok, you guys aren't stupid. Daedalus, the Nintendo 64 Emulator that StrmnNrmn has been working on for so long is starting to blossom into a more developed piece of homebrew. Not only that, it seems that the doubters out there might soon be holding their breath. Daedalus R12 boasts some nifty improvements. Improvements have been made specifically for Super Smash Brothers and 007 Goldeneye and I must admit, it's definitely quite exciting to see it at work, albeit a little slowly… but it's definitely an improvement! Here's the changelog and below are the download links. Enjoy!

![]() Recently, the Noobz team were able to bring a new exploit to the masses. Apparently it's a user-mode exploit that takes advantage of the buffer overflow in the savedata. Sound familiar? – well it should. That's the same type of method that was used in the Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories exploit which enabled all firmware 3.03 PSP systems to have the option of downgrading. Now, however, with this new exploit, supposedly ANYBODY on ANY firmware will have the ability to downgrade to version 1.50 – and that includes firmware 3.50 as well. Sony will try to fix this exploit, no doubt, but for now, the entire homebrew community is gracious to be revamped and excited for those select individuals that have been waiting for this downgrader in miserable anticipation.
The downgrader itself is not out yet, but it is said that it will be in a HEN fashion, similar to the other more recent downgraders. If you want to still check out this exploit working on your PSP, give it a try! The download link is below.

This is a bit of a crazy little mod. Although this device is not yet released "fully" around the globe, it has already been modified. See, the Go! Camera (or Chotto Shotto), recently the talk on many psp websites, apparently makes a rather loud and obnoxious sound when it takes a picture. The developer known as SparkyPSP has released a mod that has the ability to mute that sound. Actually, the root of this problem is related to Japan. In Japan, they have a law that specifically states that any digital camera must make an audible sound when taking a picture. Technically, in Japan, this may be breaking the law. On a side note, many places are beginning to talk of easily being able to take "upskirt" pornographic pictures. The purpose of this mod is to silence the camera noise. That said, the actual real-world use for this mod depends on the end-user. If you own one of these devices and this sounds appealing to you, make sure to pick up a download of this mod by clicking the link below.

![]() Sony is back, supporting their PSP console with a new firmware update. This firmware update isn't anything amazing, but it's out regardless. The update is, for the most part, a minor one on Sony's behalf, as most of their firmwares are. This one specifically targets the "Remote Play" interactivity that the PSP-to-PS3. A "Communication Settings" option is also available under the Remote Play section. Lastly, there has been an update to the RSS feature that offers an "RSS Channel Guide" which should help you navigate to find just the right thing you're looking for.
Be warned though, if you are planning on upgrading to Sony's firmware 3.50, you will lose the ability to run homebrew applications as well. If you want to upgrade to firmware 3.50, you can grab the file below.

![]() Recently, I was browsing through StrmnNrmn's blog, anxiously anticipating any updates that he may discuss with his Daedalus emulator and I was pleased to discover that, Exophase, author of the GPSP emulator for the psp, has also created a blog in which to discuss his emulator. You can visit Exophase's blog by clicking here .
If you've been living under a rock for the past year or so, or have just never heard of gpsp, it should be known that it is the best emulator for the Gameboy Advance for the PSP system. In fact, many consider it to be the very best emulator on the PSP at all!
I decided that I would get in touch with Exophase himself to discuss his experiences with the GPSP emulator. He agreed to an exclusive interview just for pspbrew.com!! Considering that Exophase has put in a considerable amount of work into the gpsp project, if you've ever enjoyed his emulator, you should definitely leave comments for him on his blog to encourage him to keep up his extraordinary work.
Without further ado, here it is! Click the link below to read what he has to say!

Could non-downgradable PSPs be coming to retail stores?
According to Nadclovek from PSP-Spot, new shipments of Playstation Portables will be coming to stores with a higher firmware (4.xx) They will be sold at the retail price of 169.99 CAD or around US$ 153.67. Although its a good price to par for the unit this could mean no homebrew, that brings me to the question; is it worth it?
Nadclovek says: "Sony was sending out Emails to its Commercial Retailers that all new PSPs to be sent out will have 'Downgradable Prevention' built right into them. All new PSPs to be shipped out as of next week Friday, May 18th, will be a higher firmware, 4.xx (specifics were not released), but they were promised to include new security features to prevent hacks and downgrades. Apparently this is one of their first steps to start focusing on the PSP again, instead of diverting all attention to the PS3."
Keep in mind that this is only a rumor for now, but this would not be good if it was true because it could end any homebrew chances on new psps. |

Now now, before everyone gets all teary-eyed and loses all hope for the future of psp homebrew, it's important to understand that he has a very good reason for slowing down for the time being. Fanjita has a child on the way! Fanjita is famed for the creation of the eloader and his assistance in the creation of downgraders has been exceptional. Fanjita has brought thousands of people the joy of homebrew compatibility, but for now, we will have to sit back and expect less out of him.
Do you think this is the last we will hear of Fanjita? Do you think his limited attendence is going to hurt the homebrew community? Let us know what you think! |
