If you just hate those really dumb trials, having to only have a movie converter that probably actually creates you\’re movie in 5-10 minutes, then you have to try this! With one click you can easily convert any formats of videos such as: DVD, DivX/XviD video, avi, wmv, mpg, mpeg, and TiVo2Go! With this application in hand, not only will you be able to convert videos for PSP use, but they can even be formatted to shrink down to size to fit under a 256mb memory stick! How cool is that? And remembering what I said about having to wait a long time for it to convert, the PSP Movie Creator will promise a 400% faster rate of conversion!!!!

Changelog for version 1.53:

* Added H letter to PSP path list.
* Possibility to reduce windows during DVD Ripp or Video conversion.
* Status bars
* Bugfixes

\"2.71

Looks like the PSP Scene is being rocked with some big news, and here it is thanks to PSPUpdates:

"As some 2.71 PSP’s say hello to the world, others will be saying goodbye at the same time as a downgrader has been successfully tested a few moments ago, with a release time of 7:00pm EST today!

For this one occasion, I grant you permission to jump on your computer’s desk; jumping up and down until you have broken your desk. The reason for such a command is that after you have done it you probably won’t care about the desk, as you have just read that a 2.71 downdater (downgrader) has now been made available! Yes, that’s right – all you 2.71 owners (who do not have a TA-082 motherboard) will be able to downgrade your PSP to firmware 1.50.

Using the recently exploited vulnerability in the tiff library, Dark_Alex (with the help of Mathieulh) has managed to create a 2.71 downdater. You are probably wondering how they managed to create this so fast, and the answer is simple. This 2.71 downdater is a port of the 2.50/2.60 downdater that was released slightly over 2 months ago. This new downdater, like the previous one, will not work with TA-082 PSP’s. However, if you do happen to have such a PSP – 0okm has been working on a softdown (no hardware changes required) method, so you are not left in the dust.

The procedure for installing, and successfully downgrading your PSP comprises of several steps in which one must be very careful. Since this downdgrader is a port of the 2.50/2.60 downdater – it functions the exact same way – just without the need for GTA. So, all the installation instructions may seem extremely familiar as they follow some of the exact same procedures as the original downdater. There were several bricked PSP\’s during testing but this latest version appears to be stable, but please remain cautious. As always, please follow the directions exactly as they appear. If you choose to proceed with this downgrader, use it at your own risk as bricking may occur.

If you are anxious to prepare for the downgrader (which you are, of course) check out our previous coverage of the 2.50/2.60 Downgrader as the installation process will most likely be nearly identical.

We will have the download and full details available in just a few short hours, so be sure to stay with QJ.NET and PSPUpdates for all the details! This post will be updated as more info comes streaming in!

Update #1:
Just a few minutes after posting and already an update! According to the developers, the code for the downgrader is still a bit unstable, so it may not start up successfully on the first try. However, it is stable once it actually begins to run and there should not be any problem with bricking if the instructions (soon to be provided) are followed precisely.

Also, as mentioned above, Mathieulh & Dark_Alex did brick several of their PSP\’s during the initial testings. If you feel like donating to their cause, you can do so here. (Also, mad props to Xairu and Birdman for their bravery in testing the downgrader, as well as joshrulez2 who was the first tester – and the first brick!)

Update #2: For your convenience , and to save you time, we have taken the liberty of giving you the instructions for the 1.50 helper/dumper program. This program is required for one to downgrade their PSP as it dumps important 1.50 files from a firmware 1.50 PSP. Here\’s how you can obtain these files (do not ask for them, they are illegal to distribute):

1.50 User Instructions

  1. \"DumpCopy the folders downhelper and downhelper% from the folder 1.50 HELPER folder to /PSP/GAME/ in your memstick.
  2. Obtain the 1.50 update EBOOT and put it in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE in your memstick. You may find the 1.50 update in our download site here.
  3. Initilize the downhelper program.
  4. It will dump your flash and some files from the updater eboot to the memstick. (These files are illegal under US copyright laws, so please do not distribute them in the comments or on our forums)
  5. After that, the program will exit. You can now delete the updater from /PSP/GAME/UPDATE
  6. You\’ll notice that you have a new folder in the root of your memstick called "DOWNDATER". (See diagram on right for arrangement – click to enlarge)
  7. That\’s the folder you\’ll have to send to a 2.71 owner to let him downgrade."

\"screen\"

As Kagato goes along with his new projects made with Lua, he has just released his stand alone eboots of Electris and Reactor. Both of which are very addictive to a lot of users, but many have demanded that they be released in stand alone formats. As requested, Kagato has put both of his Lua Projects into 2 separate eboots.

Heres what Kagato had to say:

"By popular demand, I\’m making Electris and Reactor available as stand-alone eboots.

These eboots are configured for firmware 1.5.
2.x users should stick with the Lua versions of the games for now.

Thanks go out to Zion for his tips on using PSPBrew to edit the LuaPlayer eboot.
I thought I\’d need to recompile it from source, but PSPBrew meant I could have them up and running straight away…"

\"Dark

Looks like some big news is coming for the PSP Scene, as it has apparently been CONFIRMED that DarK_AleX and then gang indeed are working on a v2.71 downgrader. Here is the lowdown, according to MaxConsole:

"We can now exclusively confirm that a PSP v2.71 downgrader is in progress. The usual suspects are hard at work in such as Dark_Alex and Yoshi, it\’s currently being tested with a Undiluted Platinum modded (unbrickable) PSP to ensure it wont harm anyone\’s shiny little handheld when it\’s released. The downgrader is expected to be released very soon after some more extensive testing."

I guess all there is left to do is wait. Be sure to keep checking back to PSPBrew.com, as we will be sure to be giving the latest information on this huge development.

\"Asteroids

Today, elad_thc released a PSP port of the classic arcade game, Asteroids.

Yes it may be old, but if you ask me, I\’d say its time to bring it back! Asteroids is an old game, but can still be very addictive. But what else can you expect with a game that has been out since around the 70\’s-80\’s. A fairly simple game indeed, the controls are to use you\’re moveable directions and shoot the asteroids that come toward you\’re space ship. Sometimes, you may even be unfortunate enough to have Alien minions will send their own missiles at you.

If you do decide to give this elad_thc creation a space in your memstick, then its best you use PSP Brew since its a 1 eboot files, to convert it to 1.0 or 1.50.  You can grab it from the download link below:

Due to some news probably discovered by most of you recently, there has been some progress in the new libtiff exploit that caused 2.0-2.8 PSP\’s to crash. Most of you may have thought it was nothing but a project leading to a dead end (quite like the TIFF glitch for 2.5 PSP\’s a few of you may remember) but boy were you guys wrong! Since I haven\’t been so active here lately (due to busy schedule) I\’m not quite up to date with the news, but I\’d like to make my first news post a memorable one. So without further ado, let me introduce to all of you TA-082 2.5/6 users AND the 2.7-2.8 users a little something I\’d like to call HOPE.

Yes there is HOPE for your deprived little PSP\’s, and whether or not this will lead to a downgrader, at least everyone may get the opportunity to play homebrew on their PSP without any need for GTA. As of now this is only a PROOF OF CONCEPT, meaning that being a hello world application, it is here to show that there is a possibility of loading unsigned eboots on your upgraded or higher firmware PSP\’s (not to mention using homebrew without GTA on your neglected TA-082 PSP\’s).

Now onto the specs of this developmental discovery: for pictures of this application in work on all PSP firmwares check out http://pspupdates.qj.net/uploads/articles_module/63483/hw_all_qjpreviewth.jpg. If looks decieve then try it yourself by putting the application to use, because for some of you, THIS: http://dl.qj.net/dl.php?fid=9656 , should take care of your doubt. Thanks to QJ and PSPUPDATES for the images, download, and for the news. For more information read the following (yet again from QJ), if you\’re too lazy to read the original article (here http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?&threshold=&upto=1156757655 ) then read this to get the ball moving and your hopes rising:

To execute this “Hello World” application on your 2.0+ PSP, please follow the following directions -

  1. Unpack the ZIP file to your PSP\’s PHOTO folder
  2. Navigate to your PSP\’s PHOTO director and attempt to view the newly transferred picture

Note: You may find that the screen does not show correct (occasionally happens) – just restart your PSP (fully shutoff by holding the power button up) and open the picture again.

I hope everyone has gotten as much of a kick out of this as SONY will, and as a closer to this article I just wanted to say that I hope everyone is apprecitaing these developers as much as those directly effected, so please contunue to support those working hard on these projects so all of you can enjoy your PSP\’s semi-full potential for free.

So best of luck to all of you TA and 2.7+ users!!
