One of the most fantastic gaming devices/ services I recognized from this year’s E3 conference was “OnLive”. OnLive is a play on the word, “online”, and for fully-justifiable reasons. With OnLive, any compatible device that can connect and run the OnLive client with at least a download rate of 5mb/s will be able to play HD gaming content wherever they have internet access. The content is streamed through the client to whatever independent device that is compatible with the service and then is able to play HD content on that device.
At E3, the game shown off as a working title was Borderlands, an exceptional first-person shooter MMO game. The device that the game was played on was none other than Apple’s new iPad, a device known for being “just a large iPod touch”.
Microsoft has been questioned for a long time about making a hand-held gaming device and have dodged questions. Now, it seems that they are at least a little bit closer to providing such a device. Now, however, it seems any device capable of creating a method of input, like the iPad’s touch screen or perhaps a USB peripheral gaming controller (not mentioned, but to be expected) will be able to stream HD gaming content that looks just as great as the modern gaming generation as played on Xbox 360 – but seemingly limitless.
This type of technology truly brings to question the concept of the future of hand-held devices and battery power consumption standards. For me, personally, I look at this type of technology and see visions of the 90’s when Sega Channel was still pumping.

We’re terribly sorry for the recent downtime the site has incurred, but we’ve been hard at work to bring the site back up. We’ve had issues with a few things including hosting issues as well as a bit extra, which I’ve outlined in our forum, but we’re back now and we’re working hard towards being better than ever before. Keep your eyes peeled for a forum update within the next few days that will include a section for average members to post news for the website in. That news can be taken and posted up by a staff member, giving full credits to the user, of course, and will be a great way that the community can take part in making the site a better place.
Also, it’s HIGHLY advised to enter the Brewology Network through www.Brewology.com instead of using one of the mirrors like WiiBrew or PSPBrew because we’re going to be adding news posts that are specific to the Brewology page itself about the latest tech trends and what-not and the only way to see such information is to enter the site through www.Brewology.com. Doing this will also filter the news from every aspect of our site into one convenient page for you to view! So please, if you haven’t already, make sure to add the Brewology page to your bookmarks or homepage or just plain enter it in when accessing the site.
Thanks for everything folks. Again, sorry for the downtime, but welcome back to the Brew! |

A while back, Apple approved it’s first app to be sold on the appstore that contains nudity. It confused many, many of us. There’s been stories of how strictly Apple reviews and cuts off apps for including too much drug use, sexual content, violence, naughty diction, and baby-shaking. Because of this strict policy, you’ll never be able to download a hentai reading app or a video streaming app for pron sites. Now, that same policy has censored, get this, ready? A dictionary app! A dictionary! WHAT?!!?! Right now, you’re like, “What the heck!!!” I know, I was too. Apparently, the dictionary contains too much sexual content to be released. The same dictionaries that we find all over America in libraries and elementary classrooms. [ Source ] |

This one’s a cool hack. ubiq_01 has created an impressive and simple program to show off how the WiiMote and iPhone can connect through bluetooth. Apparently, many people have been waiting for this to come out for their homebrew programs. I don’t know why’d anyone want more accelerometers, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

What’s augmented reality? Pure Awesomesauce Word around the net is that it’ll be coming out in the next update (3.1) for the iPhone so you’ll be seeing a lot of apps that’ll be using it for very varied reasons. Here’s a little preview if you don’t know what augmented reality is. Amazing, right? To play something like this, all you’d have to do is print out a paper with that picture on it and set the paper on a table. Now, think. What if developers made an app to change your outfit in a mirror, or changed your wallpaper in your room and put in new drapes. What if developers made an app for museums that would recognize pictures on a wall and put in a virtual sign next to each where you could read even more about the paintings. They could even include a link to Wikipedia and such. There’s just so many ways this can be utilized and it’s really nice to see this being added.

Have a hacked iPhone but still want to be secure from the SMS attacks? The iPhone Dev-Team suggests using RedSn0w 0.8 since the code that the program changes on your phone is identical when compared to the the 3.0 firmware. The only thing you’d need to do differently is whenever you’re asked to identify which IPSW is used, point to the 3.0 IPSW. That simple.

There’s not much I can really post about this subject except that Apple is giving away a free* iPod touch when you buy a MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or iMac. Of course, there’s an ‘*’ after the word ‘free.’ What you have to do is buy both and then contact Apple before October 8th and they will send you a rebate for the iPod touch. Check out the Source for the expanded details on what you need to do. I still would rather buy a 300 dollar Compaq from Wal-Mart with Vista like my mom did yesterday.
