As the annual Apple hardware event is coming increasingly near, more and more mockups are being leaked showing off purported two different iPhone models coming this fall. The past couple of months have shown the 4.7-inch iPhone in the usual Apple-esque colors, with rumors of an even larger iPhone following shortly behind. Apparently the 5.5-inch is now also in production, with more leaks surely to come.

Saurik has just recently pushed an updated version of his popular Cydia Installer for jailbroken iOS devices. With the update comes increased performance and an updated UI and icon for iOS 7.

Who doesn’t love a good info-graphic from time to time? The newest graph, released by Jumptap, shows 48 U.S. States and how they rank up against each other in overall OS domination. Within their report, spanning 38 million users, Android ranked 1st at a cool 38%. While iOS wasn’t too far behind at an impressive 33%.
They entitled the top graph, “United States of Android”. Suiting, don’t you think? Other data recorded was Android users likely to interact with advertising depending on which which carrier (of the US’s main four) they were on. Verizon, T-mo, and Sprint all sat around 20%, while AT&T users only showed that 17% were interested in interacting with ads.
We can only imagine that these numbers will continue to grow in the same rate, and that the map will be covered in mostly yellow in just a few years. Hard to believe my state of Oregon is dominated by Blackberry. Ay caramba.

Apple has released iOS 5 beta to its developers.

For developers already with previous versions of iOS 5 the beta is available as an over the air update. As always backup your phone before you commit

The latest iPod Nano leak from China shows that the next small touch-screen device from Apple will also include a camera? Cool, perhaps, if someone can find a good use for it. Of course, with all leaks, we are still unsure if this is true or not and there will be no way to know until the device is officially announced and shown off by Apple. However, the people ‘leaking’ these photos are the people who showed off the first iPod Nano with a touch-screen, so it is very plausible that this is real. And knowing Apple, they always ‘are limited by hardware designs’ to include a camera in the first iteration of any of their devices. (A la iPad or any other Apple product.)

The new iOS update is here! For now, there is no changes in the signal power in the CDMA models (Verizon, etc.), but AT&T’s will be a minor update, though.
The rest of the changelog is as follows:
• Resolves an issue authenticating with some enterprise web services
• Fixes an occasional graphics glitch on iPod touch (4th generation)
• Resolves bugs related to activating and connecting to some cellular networks
• Fixes image flicker when using Apple Digital AV Adapter with some TVs
Alongside that, it does patch over a serious flaw in the mobile web browser… Luckily, there were no exploits being worked on, so no real loss!

Next, XCode has been updated for you developers out there!
Here’s the changelog for that
• Improved Assistant editor logic when switching among different file types
• Fixed a bug in “Install Xcode.app” that hangs at 99% complete, never finishing
• Fixed a bug that prevented indexing of some projects

The 4.3 iOS beta gives iPad users a nifty new feature- Four and Five Finger Multi-Touch! Wild speculation of every single way this will be used in Apps- activated.

The title says it all. iOS 4.3 conveniently allows iPad users to choose what their Side Switch does. Now, everyone can calm down.

Yes folks, the fabled Verizon iPhone, the one that many believed would be available only once some far away planets aligned and sacred offerings to Mr. Steve Jobs himself were made, has finally became a reality.

Not much has changed since the “original” iPhone 4 became available to AT&T wireless customers last June, but the two noteworthy additions/changes is the inclusion of the Wireless Hotspot feature coming preloaded (at an additional charge mind you..) on the device and a button or two being shifted to accommodate the new antenna design. Though not official, speculation has ensued that the Antenna Design has been modified breaking way for a better signal- mostly to avoid the debacle caused by the antenna problems in the first few days after the initial release. Besides these few things, the same A4 chip, Retina Display, 512MB of RAM is still included in the same iPhone package many have came to know and love.

Phone Pricing:
The iPhone 4 will be priced per usual at:
$199 for a 16GB version
$299 for a 32GB version

Many have probably gotten this far into the read and are thinking “Why would I choose this iPhone over the other”. Although each provider has more prominence throughout each parts of the country, their plans are now different. Verizon offers the unlimited 3G Data Pack at $30 extra a month, while AT&T offers a capped 2GB a month. Keep this in mind as you purchase any device in the upcoming months really.

*UPDATE* It seems there is no preloaded crapware…erg, “Verizon Apps”… on the the device according to a hands on review by the Engadget crew. Kiss VCast and VZ Navigator goodbye!

UPDATE #2 Current Verizon customers will be given the option to preorder and receive an iPhone 4 on February 3rd on a first come first serve basis.
