Update 2012-02-20: Updated the PS3 FTP Client to version 1.1.
(Installer, find files, cancel transfer, bug fixes, etc.)

I have made a new toy… these are the features:

- It rips files (dummies, languages, update, etc) stored on the PS3 HDD/USB via FTP.
- New simulation mode (shows the results of a rip)
- If you have a folder with PS3 covers in your PC (eg. MCLUB jpgs), the cover is displayed when a remote folder that matches the titleid is selected (eg. BLES80608)
- Displays a column with the description of the game (based on the title id)
- It is a “full” ftp client based on wininet

Download: PS3 FTP Client 1.1 (WIP) 427 KB

It requires the VB5 Runtime DLL.

It is still experimental, some features are not complete, but at least the remote file ripper should work…

Final note: Use with care!! Remember that it touches the internal files in the HDD of your PS3.. The PS3RIP is safer.

true blue and cobra dongle

I (aka shadoxi) figured out where is located the payload of Trueblue and cobra dongle. You can find it at offset @360000 in lv2_kernel and 7f0000 in ps3 memory.

First of all you need to edit the header of lv2_kernel.self (from cfw trueblue) at offset 0×1D, replace 36 1A 00 by 4C FC F0. And decrypt it with unself tool from fail0verFlow. Open lv2_kernel.elf with Ida pro (in binary file mode), go to offset 360000 and press “C” to convert to asm code.

TrueBlue use some HVCALL:
lv1_insert_htab_entry
lv1_undocumented_function_114
lv1_undocumented_function_115
lv1_allocate_device_dma_region
lv1_map_device_dma_region
lv1_net_start_tx_dma
lv1_net_control
lv1_panic (shutdown ps3 when TB is unplugged)

This payload do some hvcall:
lv1_insert_htab_entry (map lv1)
lv1_allocate_device_dma_region (?)
lv1_map_device_dma_region (?)
lv1_net_start_tx_dma (?)
lv1_net_control (?)
lv1_panic (shutdown ps3 when TrueBlue Dongle is unplugged)
lv1_undocumented_function_114 (map lv1)
lv1_undocumented_function_115 (unmap lv1)

We need now to dump lv2 and lv1 memory when TrueBlue is plugged. So I create a modified TrueBlue Cfw with peek and poke syscall. It work fine !

PSVita Half byteloader

Today I updated my Vita to 1.60 and could confirm that HBL for the Vita still works as of firmware 1.60 (assuming the game itself hasn’t been patched). A few days ago, Teck4 had confirmed on Twitter that his exploit still works on the most recent firmware.

One thing I noticed is that the Vita, after being updated to 1.60, made me update the Content Manager Assistant on the PC as well (is it because my PC was connected to the internet? Maybe, although it i also possible that the OS on the Vita itself has a minimum version requirement for the PC client, and refuses to connect if that number is too low… something that can probably be bypassed at some point). It’s good to note though that Virtuous Flame’s OpenCMA still works fine and allows me to copy files while not being connected to the internet.

As far as the release is concerned, it will happen in a few days, for now all the info I can share is on this page. Stay tuned!

Returning this Friday, Verizon will again begin to double their data packages (all for the original price). This means the 2GB limit will be pushed back to 4GB, a great deal for those not grandfathered into a now unavailable Unlimited data package. The only stipulation? You must be a customer newly signing up under a 4G plan for a smartphone. This includes new customers as well as customers willing to extend their 2 Year prison sentence.

The main issue with any iOS device is the lack of originality between two devices. Without a case, which thus ruins the artistic design the masterful Jonathan Ive sculpted, or, say, your specific layout of the icons on the homescreen, two devices are almost indistinguishable at a glance. With Springtomize2, this problem is now in the past. Springtomize allows the customization of any basic feature of iOS, including animations, the dock, lockscreen, notification center, and much, much more.
