Apple has allowed Google to offer its Google Goggles visual search app to the iPhone. Google Goggles attempts to make search picture based. Instead of typing up your search you take a photo of what you want to search and Google gives back its search results. If Google pulls this off its interesting to think of how many opportunities the search giant will have. Pretty neat idea, huh? We are going to try putting the app to a test and see how Google did. We tried: a book, a hat, a can of beans, a bottle of wine, and a xbox controller and lastly a picture of a picture from Vietnam. While the picture from Vietnam didn’t get any results (not ideal conditions) the rest got relevant results! Take a look.

To download it search for “Google Mobile App” in the iPhone App Store.

Earlier today, in France, Blizzard stated in a press release that World of Warcraft’s newest expansion named Cataclysm will be released on December 7th for both Windows and Mac systems at $50 as a digital download or DVD-ROM. A Collector’s Edition will be sold with bonus items for ~$100 at the same time.
Both of the latest expansions The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King had record breaking sales. I’m sure Cataclysm will sell just as well.

“Cataclysm includes the best content we’ve ever created for World of Warcraft. It’s not just an expansion, but a re-creation of much of the original Azeroth, complete with epic new high-level adventures for current players and a redesigned leveling experience for those just starting out,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “With the help of our beta testers, we’re putting on the final polish, and we look forward to welcoming gamers around the world to enjoy it in just a couple of months.”

TinyUmbrella is saying that because of the USB ports in the back, he’s already hacked the Apple TV and backed everything up. This means that you’ll be able to downgrade yours in the future. He also stated to jailbreak the new device, all you’d have to do is download the updated jailbreaker (yet to be released) and run it from your PC or Mac. Sounds pretty cool.
In other news,  Erica Sadun took a look at Apple TV’s disk image and said that the iPad may be getting a lowtide UI for whenever it connects with AirPlay to the Apple TV. This means that in future updates, the iPad will have a similar UI to the Apple TV whenever it streams content from it. Well, this means that a lot of code was left in there for the UI to be ran on any other iOS devices, including the iPod Touch. In fact, it’s already been ported over! Take a look at this video by Dustin Howett:

Microsoft is getting ready for Kinect that will be out on November 4th with its annual fall update. For a few lucky people, they are recieving their updates a lot earlier than most others. The additions to the dashboard are mostly those covered at the past E3 like ESPN support, Zune music, a lot of chatting features and finally a Netflix search, but like always, the biggest part of the updates are always the new UI. (In this case, the menu seems to be reorganized. Not as drastic as the first update.)
Some other things that it includes is viewing movies with friends, a better avatar editor and a web browser.
Just kidding about the new web browser. The 360 still doesn’t have one of those.

moh.sakhaii released his Open Manager 1.14 that allows users to manage and use backed-up games.
• Prevents crashing after quitting to the XMB using the PS button
• Changes the icon
• Corrects grammatical errors and typos
Sounds pretty cool. Remember, don’t pirate games. This is just for legally backed-up games.

No confirmed date, but Nintendo announced that it will eventually be releasing its Wii Remote Plus that was leaked out early through GameStop’s online advertisement. The new controller is a Wii Motion Plus attachment integrated within a Wii Remote. Pretty nifty, but hopefully Nintendo will release this at the same price as the current model and phase the older one out. No price has been announced.

Looks like EIZ just updated his SNES emulator for the PS3 to 4.3. It supports major improvements but he says that the sound code isn’t that great and there are times when the code shows that it needs major improvement, but overall, you’d be pleased. Just, check out this YouTube video:
