Microsoft is getting ready for Kinect that will be out on November 4th with its annual fall update. For a few lucky people, they are recieving their updates a lot earlier than most others. The additions to the dashboard are mostly those covered at the past E3 like ESPN support, Zune music, a lot of chatting features and finally a Netflix search, but like always, the biggest part of the updates are always the new UI. (In this case, the menu seems to be reorganized. Not as drastic as the first update.)
Some other things that it includes is viewing movies with friends, a better avatar editor and a web browser.
Just kidding about the new web browser. The 360 still doesn’t have one of those.

moh.sakhaii released his Open Manager 1.14 that allows users to manage and use backed-up games.
• Prevents crashing after quitting to the XMB using the PS button
• Changes the icon
• Corrects grammatical errors and typos
Sounds pretty cool. Remember, don’t pirate games. This is just for legally backed-up games.

No confirmed date, but Nintendo announced that it will eventually be releasing its Wii Remote Plus that was leaked out early through GameStop’s online advertisement. The new controller is a Wii Motion Plus attachment integrated within a Wii Remote. Pretty nifty, but hopefully Nintendo will release this at the same price as the current model and phase the older one out. No price has been announced.

Looks like EIZ just updated his SNES emulator for the PS3 to 4.3. It supports major improvements but he says that the sound code isn’t that great and there are times when the code shows that it needs major improvement, but overall, you’d be pleased. Just, check out this YouTube video:

How much do you expect to pay for the new DS? 200? 100? How would you feel if I told you that it would be $40?!?! Sorry to disappoint you, but it’s going to be $300!!!! It’ll be released in two colors: Aqua blue and cosmo black. On February 26, 2011, it will come bundled with these things:
• Nintendo 3DS, itself
• Nintendo 3DS charging stand
• AC adaptor
• Stylus
• 2GB SD memory card
• Six augmented reality cards for use with the 3DS’ camera
• Quick start guide

Hasuky from elotrolado is claiming that he is able to jailbreak his PS3 from his SIXAXIS controller while keeping the controller in a fully functional state. We are expecting an  update with a tutorial tomorrow. Hopefully this works as this makes jailbreaking the PS3 much much easier :)

*If you want Homebrew / Hacks do NOT update. Stay at 3.41 or lower*

“Hi everyone, as we announced previously, the PS3 system software update (v3.50) is adding support for Blu-ray 3D Disc Playback, and it will be released shortly.

Additional new features in the 3.50 update include:

  • Facebook Integration: Developers will be able to create PS3 games that have more interaction with Facebook. Once compatible PS3 titles are available, PS3 users can choose to access public information on Facebook – including user name, profile, uploaded photos and friends list – to enhance their gameplay experience.
  • Grief Reporting Function: Users can send claim reports directly from the XMB for any inappropriate messages they receive from other PlayStation Network users. This feature is accessible from the option menu of the messages list in the FRIENDS category.

For more details and instructions on how to update the system software for the PS3 system, please visit http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Features/SystemUpdate.

As always, we look forward to your feedback.”

When the first lineup of Playstation 3 consoles hit the shelves, many consumers were confused about which ones played former Playstation titles, like Playstation 1 and 2 games. Many people not satisfied with the release of the newer, slim Playstation 3, had also found no Playstation 2 backwards compatibility one of the major downfalls of the Playstation 3.

Sony of America has been very secretive about a new prototype that they’ve come up with that will specifically address the issue of backwards compatibility. The new device, which has no name as of now, is aimed at bringing Playstation 1 and Playstation 2 compatibility to all models of Playstation 3. The device would connect to the Playstation 3 and house the processor, graphics processor, and RAM for the Playstation 2 system and will enable full backwards compatibility. Of course, for those of us lucky folk out there that already have a backwards compatible Playstation 3, this would be of no use. The target audience is most centralized around those who have purchased a slim model Playstation 3, known for not having the full backwards compatibility support that so many consumers long for. If the price is right, this will add a certain functionality to the Playstation 3 that the system has been needing, but is it too late? How many people are still interested in collecting Playstation 2 games? Obviously, if you have a large collection of Playstation 2 games or Playstation 1 games, this is more of a trophy item if you don’t own a backwards compatible Playstation 3, but it should be interesting how the pricing of this unit effects the Playstation 3 overall. The ability for a Playstation 3 to have backwards compatibility is considered the driving cost behind the older, fully backwards compatible Playstation 3 units. When sold online, those systems still catch their original MSRP sales prices and above, yet this little adapter might just change all of that.

“wololo, m0skit0, ab5000 and JJS have released the latest build of the HalfByte loader for the PSP 1k through PSP Go! that now works on…. wait for it…. 6.31!! :)
Yeah, you can now use one of the newer exploits in Minna no Golf Portable. It is called something different in every region: Everybody’s Golf (EU), Hot Shots Golf Open Tee (US), or Minna no golf Portable (JP).” -crait

It is now working for all regions but for the EU regions, use this method to get it to work:
1) Rename the folder hbl/libs_6xx to hbl/libs .
2) Rename the file hbl/config/imports.config_6xx into hbl/config/imports.config .
