PlayStation Plus Auto Update

Hi everyone! As we are continuously working toward providing the best gaming and entertainment experience on PlayStation 3, I wanted to give you all a heads up on the following new features and changes coming with the next system software update (v.3.70).

To make things easier for PlayStation Plus subscribers, we’ve added the option to automate two existing features. The [Automatic Download] feature will now be called [Automatic Update] as a result of these new options.

  • A new auto upload function for online save data back-up will be added to make it easier to back-up your game save data. Under (Game), select the game for which you want to automatically upload saved data, and then press the Triangle button.
  • Also, Trophies will now sync automatically at the timing of Auto Download.

A new recommendation function will be added that enables you to share your recommendations for PlayStation Storeitems, such as games and videos, with PlayStation Network friends. You will be able to send messages with a store link from the product pages within the PlayStation Store.

Due to the increase in video applications being offered on PS3, we are adding a new category on the XMB called TV/Video Services. This category will include video applications such as Netflix, Hulu PLUS, and VUDU.

  • You’ll be able to find and download all of the video applications available on PS3 directly from this new XMB category.
  • A folder labeled “My Channels” within this category will allow you to easily access your downloaded applications.
  • Any videos downloaded from the PlayStation store will continue to be placed in the existing Video category on the XMB

Two updates for all of you enjoying Blu-ray 3D movies on PS3:

  • 3D support will now be available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray
  • DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.
  • 3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.

The 3.70 update will be available soon; additional details will be available after the firmware goes live here. Separately, there will also be a minor PSP system software update (v. 6.60) launching soon.

As always the ps3 scene always recommends you DON’T update until more is learned about the firmware. Also expect a new TOS.

Oh, wow! This is no April Fool’s Day joke! Just hours ago, a user of Microsoft’s developers forum by the name of Kit3Katz has found and released information on a folder on Microsoft’s XBox website’s server! All that was in the directory an few corrupted images, two green banner images, and this image!
I just checked 20 minutes ago, and the fie was still on their servers and able to be accessed at this link:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Shell/Apr/images/PRN/001.PNG

Unfortunately, the directory has been removed and all that remains are a few back ups! But here is the new XBox 720!! No files in that directory contained any information on specs, but it is widely believed that it will be announced and released alongside Windows 8 as it contains many cross-platform system structures.
Looking at the games depicted, there is definitely Gears of War, but the other three games are yet to be identified. Also, notice that no disc tray is visible! Perhaps Microsoft is going to go the way of the PSP Go!? Or will it take on the challenge presented by its new slogan of, “Become a legend” ??

Don’t update your PS3 if you plan to keep your homebrew on your PS3 because the new update prevent homebrew on our consoles! But how?! Apparently, this update contains another special file to check the signatures on PS3 games and since they’re only pseudo-signed, Sony can easily detect the difference. What features does this update add? None. Just “security patches.”
This may be sad news, but we’re sure that the encryption method just needs to be tweaked a tiny bit and the hacks will be re-released with the new encryption very soon. ;)

If you’re into the hacking scene for PS3, then you need to avoid the newest firmware update! We’ve already mentioned that 3.5 can now be jailbroken and downgraded to previous firmwares but this firmware prevents that! There will be nothing you can do with your PS3 except what Sony allows, so be wary.
What features does this PS3 update come with? Well, it only comes with a “security patch” to patch up the holes we need to run homebrew and that’s it. No other features, nothing.

Nik (also known as MonkeyMaximus) has just released the third Java Applet in the PS3 Homebrew Suite on Brewology.com/ called the PS3 Update Finder!! It goes perfectly with the previously released tools to download homebrew straight to your PS3 from the internet and to download PSN content without the need to log into the PSN!! It was only a little while ago that the homebrew manager was released to save people much time. No longer did they have to get their homebrew from online sources from all over and install them onto their computers, and then FTP them over to the PS3. The site does it automatically. And guess what! It’s very, very secure! We store no personal information on our sites, whatsoever!

What exactly does this new Applet do? Well, it’s an Update Finder that is based in Java so it isn’t limited to solely the Windows OS. All you have to do is enter your Game ID for the game you want to search for, and a list of updates and patches will be returned that you can easily cue up to be downloaded all at once. That simple.
Come check out the new Java-Based Applet over at Brewology.com/ today!
